Re: Jack Steven
Ross or Markworth will probably make their debut against Giants, if at all this year. I certainly wouldn't bring either in for a scrap with Foots.
Jack Steven will have to win respect back, but everyone has an off game now and then, he's going alright.
I'd certainly look elsewhere for team deficiencies before I took Jack to task.

Re: Jack Steven
Just out of interest does Jack share a house with fellow Saint/s?
I assume he will need his roomies to get him to training for the next 6 months?

Re: Jack Steven
I agree with the one thing that his kicking can let him down, and that is a HUGE problem that really needs addressing, I'm sure its something they have him working on every week.BringBackMadDog wrote:This thread proves that you don't need an IQ above 50 to work a computer. Jack may not have had a great day today but to say that he is one of the worst to play for the saints is just plain moronic. He is easily in our top 3 mids this year and one of the few players in the side willing to take the game on and ripen through the lines
He licks beautifully for goal, though.
And he's not quite as quick as he seems.
I'd also argue Armitage has gone past him this year.
Armitage is class this year. All class.
Jack Steven is the new Montagna. Montagna's kicking in the early years was f****** atrocious.
Gordon Fode couldda been Plugga

Re: Jack Steven
You really dislike CJ but I agree with your post. Steven could be like Swan, I hope he really knuckles down and becomes elite. Shame he wasn't ready for the 09 GF.mad saint guy wrote:I'm not sure how Steven's career will pan out. He clearly has excellent roving and ball winning ability but his decision making is ordinary and his kicking is extremely inconsistent. He's not a truly bad kick like Jones, but too often he rushes his disposal and shanks it; though later on he'll deliver a flat, lace out pass to a leading forward.
I'd like to see him keep working on his strength so he could be a powerful burst player ala Swan or Judd. He could either keep improving and become one of our best players or stagnate, continue to have trouble with disposal and discipline and find himself on the outer. It's up to Jack as to which path he takes.

"Jackie" - speedster, marking giant and pinpoint passer. How could we do without him?

Played many AFL games yourself?
Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!

With "Jackie's" skills, I reckon we all could have played 300 for the Saints - 300 losses of course.whiskers3614 wrote:Played many AFL games yourself?

Nope, just old and having seen it all. It would be nice if duds suddenly came good - especially for us. It hasn't happened in more than 50 years that I've been watching the Saints, but anything is possible I suppose.whiskers3614 wrote:Fair dinkum you must be 14 and feeble minded!

Re: Jack Steven
I read this post on Sunday and only just picked myself up off the floor to reply. Steven has been our best midfielder this year. One bad game and you hang him out to dry. Seriously perfectionist you have totally missed the mark on this one. I am confident he will be top ten best and fairest and is a future star for the saints. Plays very much like a young Dane Swan, next time put your emotions to the side before posting rubbish!

Dementia when seen in the elderly was called senile dementia or senility and viewed as a normal and somewhat inevitable aspect of growing old....

Re: Jack Steven
I think perf has hurt feelings that one of his heroes did something naughty and he's having a hard time coming to terms with his disappointment. Jack Steven stuffed up and then had a fairly average game big deal just starting a career and will be a gun.
