Umpiring Interstate
We have been shafted by umpires each game intetstate this year costing us three games. The WC game we copped it but realistically we were neber going to win. Power, The Crows and now Swans have been games where the umpires have won games for the home side. Im sick of this rubbish but shats worse is the silence from our officals. Today was shocking with a match in thd balance they somehow managed to continually gift Sydnry gials while denying us the most blatant of frees. It has cost us a top 6 spot. Get stuffed AFL

Such is life. We need to make more noise at our home games then

Perhaps I am out of step,
but I expect the umpires to get it right and be consistent at ALL venues for ALL teams.

Re: Umpiring Interstate
What did they get wrong? Kosi's goal looked like Pyke got a finger on it. His free against LRT was clearly there - and mind numbingly stupid. If there was a real howler of a call, I've forgotten it. I'm much more angry by our woeful kicking than I am the umpiring.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

This is the way it works in all sports though. Subconsciously crowd noise does come into accountEnrico_Misso wrote:Perhaps I am out of step,

I would say after the replay it looked like Pyke didn't get his finger on it at allvacuous space wrote:What did they get wrong? Kosi's goal looked like Pyke got a finger on it. Looked like his index and middle finger moved with the ball. I know what Huddo said, but it looked to me like he touched it.Devilhead wrote:I would say after the replay it looked like Pyke didn't get his finger on it at all

Re: Umpiring Interstate
Yes. it was a bad call. The goal umpire called it a goal. And it was.Devilhead wrote:I would say after the replay it looked like Pyke didn't get his finger on it at allvacuous space wrote:What did they get wrong? Re: Umpiring Interstate
I though the goal umpire said he thought it was touched but didn't know if it was in front or behind the line. The replay didn't show anything and definitely whether it was on the line or behind it. What's the point of this stupidity?SaintPav wrote:Not from the replay but they went with the umpires call...vacuous space wrote:What did they get wrong? So why wasn't Kosi given the benefit of the doubt?

Re: Umpiring Interstate
Yeah, there were a couple of real dunious decisions earlier in the game but in general the Swans also got some sidewinders. Saints won the free kicks 15 to 13 and the inside 50's 60 to 52 but falied to win contested marks and marks inside 50 where they count (18 to 7 and 15 to 8 respectively). This smacks of poor midfield delivery, bombing the ball forward and/or dominant tall defenders.vacuous space wrote:What did they get wrong? Kosi's goal looked like Pyke got a finger on it. Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Re: Umpiring Interstate
The same reason Matner wasnt pinned for holding it, same reason Sippos wasnt given a free when he got hit high, the same reason Grundy got another shot at goal. Who knows?Enrico_Misso wrote:So why wasn't Kosi given the benefit of the doubt?

The goal umpire said touched. Once that happened it was going to be a point unless 100% sure it wasnt touched.

Re: Umpiring Interstate
Didn't think the umpiring was all that bad from where I was sitting. They were a little more whistle happy when the ball was in the Swans forward half, otherwise, certainly seen far worse.
Not the reason we lost, though I don't think anyone is saying that after all.

Of course there is. He was unsure thats why hd said I think it was. If he knew he woulf of said that WAS touched. Even if it was Pyke was over ghr line clearly.plugger66 wrote:CURLY wrote:He said I think it was touched massive differance.

So what should have happened after he said I think it is touched that would have changed the result?

That is wrong.
Re: Umpiring Interstate
4 incorrect decisions led o 4 goals in a row
A couple of blatant errors
Umpires escape criticism though??
