The Defence is Much Better

Credit to Watters, the move to make Dempster the loose man and give Fisher a key forward has worked really well 2 weeks in a row. Also think Gilbert has come into some form at last, meaning that the unit is overall looking much better, with Gwilt finding his feet today as well apart from a few poor kicks, and Simpkin and Geary very tough and composed.

Sydney had no trouble getting the ball inside 50, the defence looked very shaky although a few good performances (Dempster, Fisher) smoothed over the cracks. Had Sydney been more accurate it would have been an annihilation.

Having said that, the midfield and forwards bar Milne did very poorly - so the defence looked better than it was.

Our defensive structures have been reformed since the North debacle. We conceded 120+ 3 weeks out of 4, it is definitely on the improve.

That's due to teams winning the centre clearances and clean ones too. When we were down by 4 points twice in the last quarter we couldnt win the centre clearance. Cost us twice.
