Very stupid question.
Any team with a chance of making the eight can win the flag.
The chance we will from outside the top 4 is sweet FA buddy.
If you don't understand that you need help sorry.......

No we cant. Lets make the finals first. Anyone who thinks we are a walk up start for the finals let alone win a flag is dreaming.

The wins against Essendon, Brisbane, Sydney (last time), Carlton say yes.
The losses to Port, Richmond, North say no.
My poll answer... YES!

Re: Poll - Can St.Kilda win the flag this year?
I think we have the players and the coaches.
Maybe a couple of defensive question marks but we have seen improvements there the last two weeks.
Shame, a firing Stanley would make us more likely. But a number of players have improved; Steven, Geary, Dempster. And there are others who will get better; Gwilt, Schneider, Ray, Simpkin.
And we have dark horses in the new players; Dunell, Siposs, Saad, Wilkes.
This year in particular it is up for grabs. The only team I wouldn't fancy us beating is Hawthorn.

I'd like to think that we could if the gods smile on us and with a bit of luck and the planets align and buddy
Is suspended and pedals is injured... I think we have the desire and motivation to do it , our ageing players want it so bad ( im sure the younger ones do too )so you never know where that will take you. Hunger drives people to do extra ordinary things and the saints must be the hungriest ...

Re: Poll - Can St.Kilda win the flag this year?
We are going to have a hard time retaining our place in the 8. let alone win the Premiership. Until last night I thought Geelong were gone. Now they look solid in 7th possy. Essendon may lose most of their remaining games and drop out, that is about our best chance. Both North and Freo have relatively easy runs home, especially North. Anyway I still believe we can do it. But this season, if we are to finish in 7th or 8th spot and not do anything in the finals, I would rather we finish about 10th for the better draft picks.

Far more chance of us winning the flag than anyone here winning tattslotto first division.

Re: Poll - Can St.Kilda win the flag this year?
Nope. We'd have to beat three good sides in a final to do that, and I haven't seen enough signs that we can actually do that.
If the ladder stayed as it is now and all games went with ladder position, we'd have to beat:
West Coast away
Collingwood
Hawthorn
Sydney
So far we've beaten one of them and had five goal losses against the other two we've played. That suggests we're a fair way from being able to beat all four on the trot...

Re: Poll - Can St.Kilda win the flag this year?
No chance at all.
Hawks and Pies should end up playing in the final.
Westcoast's injury list will take it's toll late in September and the Crows young will wilt in the finals and same goes for Sydney.
Everyone outside of those teams will just be making up the numbers.
Beating the Swans tomorrow will falsely raise hopes because we play Sydney really well, even at the SCG. It's like our home away from home, small ground an all...

Re: Poll - Can St.Kilda win the flag this year?
The summit has many obstacles...can it be done...of coarse it can...is it this playing groups 'Everest'...of coarse it is!! Do they want it badly enough? Do they all have Lenny's heart? Can they all take a leaf out of his comeback from a knee-reconstruction and copy that will and determination? Can they put it together for the next 10 or so weeks? Can they focus 100% on footy?
Is Jack Steven thinking about where he's going Monday night to have a good night out, is BJ worried about his contract or where he's playing his next round of golf...is Dal worried about the menu at his wedding...is Roo worried about Buddy having a nicer set of wheels than him....then NO we can't win it!!
After you climb little Everest you need to face the 'monster ascent' aka the Hawthorn FC...they're looking the goods (and with Hodge and Buddy to return)

Re: Poll - Can St.Kilda win the flag this year?
Yes, if we win our next 11 games...
But seriously, knowing our luck we'll:
Beat E-girls away in first final
Beat Crows away in second final
Beat Shitney away in prelim
Then get beaten by 10 goals in GF by Dawks
