It's a tough trio

Geary is fine, rubbish comment. Give 100% effort all the time and will get better and better. I think Gwilt needs to be given to 2013 to get back to his best. Having had two knee recos and needing another myself, I am amazed at how these blokes even play again let alone be back to their kicking best.

We need another seasoned defender and all tese issues will disappear. I still think Alex Silvahni (Freo) is ripe for the picking and would fit our needs nicely

Alex is 191 cm and 90kg. We have plenty of defenders of that height. He and Simpkin are similar. We need a genuine and taller FB. Simpkin then plays support and Fisher is freed up, unlike tonight when he had to guard Brown.

I have thought Geary to be next to useless in previous years.
Because of my shoulder injury I have yet to attend a game this season, so forced to watch on TV.
On TV this season I have been very impressed by Geary and very happy we retained and persevered with him.
Maybe you are seeing something at the ground that I am not, but it seems he has really put in and done an excellent shutdown on opposition small forwards all season.

Not his best game, but at the moment I'd have him in before Gwilt and Gram ( but after Blake).

Yes, I thought that as well. But this year he has obviously stepped up, there's no denying that and I think it is unfair to call him completely useless on the back of one game when the dozen or so before that have been pretty good. (not in reference to you ace :))

I didn't even think he was that bad tonight, to be honest.

The negative that stood out tonight was how poor we were at hitting targets. Maybe conditions played a part in that, but it seemed like the rain only started towards the end of the match?

Very solid effort - such high workrate in that back six...

Add Gilbert. Plenty of run, six strong marks, and although everyone will s*** on him from storey's up for a couple of errant kicks - one he missed a target going into F50, and there was a missed set shot - his game was indicative of a standard of effort. Such a hard worker. Wasn't surprised at all to see him nearly notch a DT ton.

Exceptional team defence in trying conditions against a team at their home ground that has improved markedly this year.

Big plusses.

The work of our defence was the highlight for me.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Sorry but how tall is Goose? And can you ask Roo and Kozi just how important those extra few cms are when considering last nights game and that arguement?!?

Geary has suprised me this year, he is definitely deserving his spot in the team at the moment.

+1...DT points are irrelevant for defenders, particularly those that play Gears' role. Thought he was solid as usual.

Geary is pretty important to us........don't know which game you were watching 'perfectionist'...
I hate reading the usual posts about how useless Kosi, Gram, Clarke and now Geary are. Get off their cases, they're doing the best they can.....let the coaches decide at the end of the year whose good enough to be on the list.
Do we have to keep berating the same few players?? I mean it's going to do their confidence the world of good isn't it....

I think he's been pretty solid all year. It's the first chance he's had to really establish himself in the team as a regular. How many career games has he played now?

Have to say, he appeared to cop a hit...perhaps where it hurts (?) early and it took ages for him to shake it off.
