Like Jones, should ALWAYS look to handball off. He has a false sense of confidence.

At least Jack had actual football ability. Gilbert is just a very poor footballer and has absolutely no football smarts whatsoever.

I think he should just kick it as long as he can and hope for the best. Given that it is likely to go anywhere, it's a 50/50 when it lands. The bastard cost us at least one flag. It was his turnover in 2009, and again in 2010, that cost us those games. Those sort of players must be booted at the earliest available opportunity. At least Clint Jones can shut down a player, and hopefully won't actually get the ball at any stage.

Jayson Daniels was cm perfect compared to Sam.

Gilbert looks to kick it to Roo on the half forward flank and accidently goals

No, he kicked it long - the only thing he should ever do, and who knows what might happen - it could even be goal.

Ha Ha - Long left foot outside 50 - GOAL!!!

Followed it up with a right foot    snap outside 50 - mark to Sippa - GOAL!!

That said there is no worse feeling in football than when Gilbert has it in the back pocket and instead of going down the line he kicks across goal - 85% probability that the opposition end up having a shot for goal

Needs to take the game on, but is a very good contested ball player which probably keeps him in the side. Not bad tonight.

great long kick. TERRIBLE if he tries to pinpoint any kick.

Gilbert is huge, takes big marks, can run faster than most at 194cm!! yes he is that tall!

His kicking does let him down but someone that big and fast and hard just has to be in the 22.

The game was there to be won tonight. Gilbo stood up...he is not a passenger and deserves his spot.

Actually apart from jis close shot on goal when he stabbed at it his kicking was actually pretty good in the Lions game and one of his better games kicking wise.
His running goal from outside 50m was a beauty.

Like Roo when he is near goal he needs to just go back and kick it like he was 50m out rather than trying to steer it through.....which they then both routinely bugger up.

Must have watched a different game, he was very good tonight, kicked a clutch goal, set up a couple of others and lead our inside 50's. He's had his moments, but tonight wasnt one of them

the worst kick I have ever seen, a absolute disgrace and embarasment. Trade bait, Im not sure what Gilbert is actually there for. No point in being able to get the ball if you absolutely totally butcher it nearly every time you get it !

First time i've seen that one

Based on what i've read here i always assumed it was Milney's / Riewoldt's / Lyon(Ball) fault....
But now i know...
It was totally Gilberts fault

His field kicking is embarrassing.... His short inside 50 was not good enough for a league footballer...

Jones doesn't even want to kick the ball, a league footballer who has no confidence in his ability to kick....

Gilbo does a lot of bad things which seem to be highlighted on here weekly. BUT i honestly believe he does more good and most weeks his good outweigh his bad.
He does do some great plays every week.he never stops running and he can tackle. Hes no bum.

Gilbo did two very good right foot kicks tonight. First time ever two in the one game. (Probably only his third and fourth right foot kicks ever.)
I thought he was excellent value tonight.
Jones was far more embarrassing, not even wanting to kick, and ending up with even worse stuff-ups than just a poor kick.

Kicked a great goal. Did a couple of ordinary things, but I think he just needs to work on his weaknesses - including field kicking. I think instead of a lot of the other drills, get guys like Gilbert and Jones working on field kicking and Roo on his goalkicking. A lot of the fitness work is done pre-season anyway, as is the weights stuff.
Maybe they are doing this anyway ...
