The eye poking was a dogs act very lucky to get away with it, but this is pretty pathetic. Maybe a slap on the wrist may be needed. People tend to forget wat this bloke cops every 4 quarters every round of the year, bit like BJ . Only human people crack and sum dont. No excuse but any one would think he has raped and murdered sum one.....

You can't seriously suggest a slap on the wrist for that low life act is suffecient, especially considering that he has a record of these low acts and getting nothing more than a slap on the wrist after the afl come up with some lame explanation for not suspending him.

He should get a decent holiday, but I an sure he wont
i understand peoples frustration with his past and getting of eye poking etc, but is wat he done really any worse than a hard head lock . Your right maybe he should get a week but any more is bit of a over kill.

perfectionist wrote:There are a number of interesting things about the incident. First, Chris Judd has been reported by one of the boundary umpires - most unusual these days. (Clearly no field ump saw it, which is why the retaliation was penalised) Second, the media says the report is for misconduct, but under the current rules (which these days strictly define misconduct charges), no misconduct charge would cover the incident, unless it is to categorised as "serious misconduct" in which case, it would go straight to the Tribunal. More likely, the charge will be changed to "rough play". In that case, it would probably be deemed as "negligent, medium impact and body contact" - a level 1 offence drawing 125 demerit points. Whether he misses a week will depend on his record, but an early plea would reduce it to below 125, i.e. a reprimand, anyway.

As far as the TV coverage and commentary was concerned, I thought it was appropriate. The pictures were shown numerous times (so were hardly hidden) and the commentary was balanced - there is little point finding a player guilty and giving him weeks during the call of a match. Overall, the commentary was a delight to listen to, at least that part of it that I heard (I decided the game was over three minutes into the third and switched off), especially after having to put up with two of the three stooges the week before.

If its anything less than intentional conduct the MRP are seriously corrupt.

Impact depends on the injury the animal caused.

If the animal caused a dislocated shoulder, then it's severe.

And clearly body contact not high. That should equate to 5 weeks + any loadings the animal may have.

I dont really understand why you are trying to defend what is a total dog act.

Its clear and has been supported by medical tests that this kind of action can cause serious injury.

Judd is a player with a long history of not only dirty acts on the footy field but getting away with said acts with not much more than a light slap on the wrist.

I would be flabbergasted if he gets less than 3 weeks for this deplorable incident.

I dont give a stuff that its Judd. A dog act is a dog act.

I would be reacting the same regardless of who it is.

People are (rightfully so) simply pointing out that the guy has a history of incidents such as the one last night and its about time he got punished accordingly.

The more I look at it the creepier it gets.

Because of the nature of it, this should be a straight to the tribunal case.

If Judd is found to have intentionally attempted to dislocate a player's shoulder, the penalty needs to be severe. The massage needs to get out there that this sort of thing is NOT ON.

Kimberly - Wellingham got off easy, but this is worse because canoning into somebody can happen after a split-second brain fade. Judd thinks and get creative with his efforts to injure. Nasty piece of work!

Dog act. Must get 6-8 weeks. The serial eye gouger, went over after a tackle and tried, successfully, to dislocate the shoulder of a pinned opponent.....whatthe F.....???

Will the public finally realise this guy is a pr#ck??? All about image....happy to drive a hybrid smart car....and quietly invest in Pokies.

Yep - for mine regardless of whether it was Judd or a first gamer, it needs to be stamped out. I'd send him straight to the tribunal. In a bizarre way, it actually looks worse for the game than the Wellingham incident.

Here's a bloke lying prone on the ground with a Carlton player lying on top of him. Judd then comes along, grabs his arm and pushes it upwards. For what possible reason? The other Carlton player had already retarded Adams and the ball. I thought it looked awful. People are saying it's an over reaction. Well footy is a brutal sport. I can handle seeing players run through each other. I can even handle watching blokes go toe to toe. Not saying they shouldn't be punished, but sometimes it's the collateral side of a physical uncompromising sport. THIS however is purely and simply one bloke inflicting pain on a defenceless person. This is something you expect to see at Crown Casino when the security guards are providing customer service with their patrons. This has no place on a footy field.

Adams was interviewed on MMM after the game. Obviously trying everything in his power to assist Judd, but he had to admit he was in a fair amount of pain when pushed by the commentators. For mine, if it can be proven that he caused ANY sort of injury, I would give him 6 weeks (forget about the MRP, straight to the tribunal)

I reckon he'll get a week.

Was Bakes the last player to be charged with misconduct?

He got a week for 'unmanly' behaviour from memory, it only ended up being weeks because of the other charges and carry over points.

While I think Judd should get more, I think he'll get a week.

I query Judd's intention.
Often we see players do stupid things on the spur of the moment to prevent the opposition running on, playing on or just to put the opposition off their game.
The only intention here appears to be to cause injury!?
Considering some of the penalties handed out to Bakes - I just hope for some consistency from the tribunal.

From what I have seen;

Intentional Conduct

High or Severe Contact (dep[ending on Medical Report)

Body Contact

If its assessed as Intentional & Severe it will go straight to the tribunal and Judd will be looking at 6 weeks (ala Barry Hall on Staker)

I think it will be Intentional & High, meaning that it will be 3 down to 2 !!

Good point, this was not a reflex action but an attempt to cause injury, but I bet they came up with an excuse not to suspend him.

Fitzpatrick will not be happy if he is rubbed out. Judd is his favourite player and his hope for a Carlton premiership. The defence will be that he has been incorrectly charged and so walk free and still be eligible for the Brownlow.

Forget the MRP points system. 27.45% for this with plus sigma times your birthday for intentional. That was beyond the pale. ....OUT FOR THE YEAR !.....at a minimum. That is on par with Mike Tyson's efforts

Seriously if the guy wasnt injured in the incident does he really deserve more than a week. Surely not. Forget what else he has done. Nothing to do with it. I have no idea if it injured him or not. If it didnt a reprimand, if it did maybe 2 weeks. All it deserves unless we get emotive.

I took your advice and got this:

I was absolutely disgusted in 'our' leader last night.

For a man who has had several shoulder injuries/operations to bend Adams arm back line that, (yes he knew what he was doing) is unforgivable.

I hope the MRP throw the book at him. To intently cause injury like that should be dealt with severely.

What he did was worse in my opinion than Wellingham on Simpson. CJ, 'due' to his stupidity deserves everything that he gets.

They are just as horrified about this as those here apart from a few morons just citing the need to remove Brett Ratten (dont really see the link here!)

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Judd was probably one of those nasty brats as a kid...poked the dog in the eye, gave the cat karate chops, and caught flies and pulled their wings off :? :o

Adams' shoulder was dislocated. It is arguable whether it was this incident. Because of the bizzare nature, it is really hard to guess. I'll stick with 3 down to 2 !!

See I've heard this argument many times today - how can he NOT be injured? He didn't remonstrate. He left the ground straight away for treatment. He went down to the rooms. Did he need to take a piss? It caused severe pain. That's all we need tp know. Beyond that is just the amount of weeks that should be tacked on.

I Just saw Joel Selwood do a similar thing and nothing was mentioned. Held on to a blokes arm only in a tackle while the bloke went down. A slight twist to the arm. Nothing said.

Unless I have been watching a different game for 45 years, I just thought it was a tackle of sorts by Judd. I saw Aaron Hamill and Brent Guerra do similar tackles and worse during their times at St Kilda and this site applauded them. Unless you can prove it was a deliberate attempt to snap the bloke's shoulder then it was just a tackle. Unusual but still a tackle.

Will be interested to see if the AFL and the MRP share my view, as I know most of the posters in this thread will not.

I also saw Aaron Hamill tackle/slam Jay Schultz one day/night at Etihad. If he did it tody he'd get 5 weeks. Times have changed !!

He must get weeks for this.

How he got off the Campbell Brown eye gouge, the Pavlich elbow and then the Steven Segal stuff is beyond me.

They cant hide this one. He needs to be hit by the banhammer. Pretty hard. 3+
