St Kilda Football Club has imposed a one week suspension (from AFL & VFL competitions) and a fine of $5000 following a breach of the AFL Code of Conduct by player, Jack Steven.
Steven was given a random breath test by Police on the way from his home to the Saints’ recovery session at the Linen House Centre, Seaford this morning.
He returned a reading of 0.08 and was given an on the spot fine of $423 and will be sent an infringement notice advising that his driver’s licence will be cancelled for six (6) months.
The 22-year-old is both apologetic and disappointed in his actions, and has accepted the sanctions imposed.
St Kilda Head of Football Chris Pelchen said; “While Jack believed he would be alright to drive on the morning following the club’s match against Essendon on Saturday night, he has made an error of judgement that is clearly unacceptable by the community and the standards expected at the St Kilda Football Club."
"Jack has apologised for his mistake and acknowledges the broader responsibility that comes with being an AFL footballer."
The Club has kept the AFL and AFLPA informed of the incident, and both have agreed with the sanctions imposed.

What an idiot.
Wonder how long it takes for someone to blame Seaford.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Dummy!
Wasn't he supposed to have come out of the New Zealand fiasco as the only one smelling like roses?

I'd go with lucky, as are the people on the road at the same time as him this morning....hopefully not last night.
This is his second hiccup.
Good the club has suspended him, I'm sure he is sorry, but kids under him doing everything right as well.
Jack, get some early nights, your eyes always look puffy and tired.

Bloody nong. But he's not much beyond a kid. They reckon they're bulletproof. We all did once. He won't do it again. Once you get caught it changes you.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Plenty of footballers don't TL....just saying.Thinline wrote:Bloody nong. But he's not much beyond a kid. They reckon they're bulletproof. We all did once. He won't do it again. Once you get caught it changes you.
He has been caught being naughty before.
Not going to lay the boots in, but he is very talented, and wouldn't like him to realise he could of got better out of himself in a few years.
Re: Jack Steven suspended for failing breath test
drink driving aside.
does this not concern anyone that jack drank enough between finishing up at the essendon game and 10am the next morning to blow 0.08!!!
what kind of f****** recovery is that!! then drives to the club to rock up to a recovery session hung over!

Ray, flying in the VFL, takes his spot. Steven may not get it back in a hurry.

That little word LAW changes the context of your entire post
I have a mixed reaction, I hope he is coping OK....and I hope he realises he could be a gun if he applied himself.

He's twenty two years old.
His age is no excuse.
Cop your whack kid and think yourself lucky you didn't hurt anyone.

Re: Jack Steven suspended for failing breath test
I'm not rapt about it. However, they do need an opportunity to unwind. They are in the prime of their life. We as supporters would probably prefer that they all go straight home and think of nothing else but recovering and playing next week.defacto wrote:so your ok with our players getting on the piss in a big way straight after a game?Thinline wrote:Surprisingly easy to do.defacto wrote:drink driving aside.

He shouldn't be that pissed that he can't pass a breath test the next morning. That's stupid. I'm happy for him to go out after a game and have some fun though. I know I would if I was him.
