Re: Round 15 Team
Watters said he would reward some young guys who were performing well at sandy, unless you consider ray & Wilkes to be young, or Danny plays he has fibbed again.
It's fair to say that anything he says in the media is generally unrelated to the truth. He has quite a history now.

wilkes and ray deserved to come in. he has brought siposs and simpkin in to the 18 and he has added markworth and newnes to the 25. so im happy with that. thats a fair bit of reward going on.
p.s regarding tezza. no shame in being dropped people. if we had said 6 months ago he would play 10 games this year i think we all (and him included) said that would be a nice return for the year. week-in week out afl intensity takes some getting used to. he will be better next year.
p.p.s. kosi is one LUCKY hombre to stay in due to injuries (blake/rhys)
Re: Round 15 Team
going on watters history, congrats to markworth, good to see ya back newnes......

Re: Round 15 Team
21-year-old Simpkin is set to play his 13th game in the red, white and black since being recruited in the 1999 Rookie Draft. we drafted him when he was 8!! he must have shown some talent. ( this was on the article about the saints team on saints.com.au btw)

In the same article - Dan Markworth is called a 'small forward'.creepypolar wrote:21-year-old Simpkin is set to play his 13th game in the red, white and black since being recruited in the 1999 Rookie Draft. we drafted him when he was 8!! he must have shown some talent. I'm not upset at the changes at all, just thought he said that he'd pick some young guys who were performing at sandy, which would be curren, ledger, ross, markworth & dunnell…Con Gorozidis wrote:a bit harsh i reckon

Re: Round 15 Team
Curren and dunnell are both rookies and cannot be selected, Ross has had only a few decent Ames in the reissues all year and ledger has no defensive side and butchers the ball constantly. Markworth is the closest and as such he is named as an emergencydragit wrote:I'm not upset at the changes at all, just thought he said that he'd pick some young guys who were performing at sandy, which would be curren, ledger, ross, markworth & dunnell…Con Gorozidis wrote:a bit harsh i reckon

we can by the rules, but there's some talk that we can't afford it for salary cap reasons.villasaint wrote:Why can't we promote a rookie

Re: Round 15 Team
As long as Watters has realized what most fans knew from start.. He is a forward not a bloody defender. Play him from goal square and lets see what he does on big stage. 70 or so goals from about 17-18 matches matches in VFL/WAFL proves that!ShanghaiSaint wrote:Wilkes man he worries me, hope he has a break out game...

Re: Round 15 Team
No issues with the side, i just don't like Newnes being named as an emerg when he hasn't played for 3 or 4 weeks he does have a lot of potenial though and probably shouldn't of been dropped when he was in.

Re: Round 15 Team
Wilkes had a stormer for Sandy against Casey a week or so back. He had a bit of a stinker against West Coast, but played well (VERY well) against the Dees, so (IMHO) he's been as "consistent" as Kosi, Clarke, etc and deserves a chance to redeem himself. I'm of the opinion that Watters is assessing all his options during this season of transition, as we build toward the BIG years (2014/15)

Fair call. Although I reckon Wilkes is not AFL standard long term.thejiggingsaint wrote:Wilkes had a stormer for Sandy against Casey a week or so back. But given how disgracefully bad so many of our players were last week, we are coming off a very low base.
Basically nothing to lose and time to experiment a bit.

Re: Round 15 Team
Wilkes. Against Melbourne, he reminded me of Ryan Gamble IMHO.
I could be wrong, but he seemed to be flat-footed, fairly slow.
Really hope he grasps this chance to prove himself to the coaches .
Gram is picked again. Don't they replay the last match and discuss it?
He did a toe-poke which gifted a North goal. Perpetual squibber.
I really don't understand it.

I know I'm probably joining dots that aren't there, but I reckon Wellard Saints may....and it's only a guess here....not like Jason Gram?
I do apologise Wellard, if I am completely off the mark?
It's just the multiple posts, all having a dig at his softness, almost bordering on obsession kind of comments....it just caused a light bulb moment for me.
