We do need someone down there who's taller than 191cm to play a key defensive poistion. Asking too much of Gwilt, Blake, Raph (and Simpkin when he's there) to play on guys who are 196cm.

Of course we're missing him. We were always going to as soon as he left. There is no-one obvious to replace him, regardless of what you think of him. He was very valuable to our structure. Wasn't the best FB in the league, but contrary to what many think he was no where near the worst either.

Could have probably paid for his wage instead of keeping all of Peake, Polo, Clarke & Ray… who won't play much this year collectively.

he is 196cm athletic defender FFS. tall fwds have troubled us all year. zac used to save our bacon 10 times per week.

The problem re Tall Defenders goes back to the Ross Lyon-John Peake era where there was ZERO forward planning. How many players do we have on our list between 22-26 years? !!

Agreed. And that further magnifies the shortcomings of our recruiting policy in recent years, possibly going all the way back to Grant Thomas when players were well & truly overpaid, creating recruiting-drafting-trading problems !!
