Well said Doc!Dr Spaceman wrote:We can concentrate on where he was taken in the Draft, or how many years he's been in the system.
However I prefer to see a still young man who's played some great games so far this season. And, more importantly, one who's progress is still charting in the upward direction.
And a player who appears to certain to play a very significant role in a rejuvenated Saints outfit under Scott Watters.
Going well Dave

Re: Armitage still can't manage consistency !
Another very good game tonight. In the best on the ground for mine. Checking the early SS votes coming in, this looks like being reflected in the Saintsatinal POTY again this week. That would see Armo polling in the last 3 rounds, 7 outta the opening 11 rounds... and consolidating 2nd spot on the SS POTY leader board!
Now that's the kind of inconsistency I could learn to like to live with...
Go Armo' !!!

Good player. Only thing that's really held him back, his last coach....
I mean how do you get three brownlow votes as a 22yo and two rounds later be out of the side??

Clearly Marto because he can't mark space. If Armo could have learned to mark space like R Eddy perhaps Lyon would have given him a run in 2009/2010. Luckily we still had eddy to man space, it doesn't man itself you know!

Hasn't put a foot wrong in my view. All round game, tough and team oriented. Great stuff. Mind you, we did wait a while. Or Ross kept us waiting more likely......

But surely BM the coach has more information than we do and never makes mistakes

Maybe Ross could have just looked at the Stat Sheet
R19- 22 possesions, 1goal, 10 tackles
R21- 18 possessions, 13 tackles
R22- omitted...... In; R.Eddy

Who questioned the coach at the time? I wonder what Leigh Tudor thought about it? Maybe because we were flying alot of the Lyons selection blunders were forgiven...Rossy had become seasoned in the media too. Lyon was quick to cut-down any questioning of his decisions, so armo and other youngsters weren't getting any back-up or exposure for their cause.BigMart wrote:Maybe Ross could have just looked at the Stat Sheet

The fans and the Saints members were uneasy with alot of what Rossco did, but we were willing to forgive him while the team was winning...Rossy was handed a team that had stars on the list and that 'blueprint' had nothing to do with him personally. The list was built and 'committed as a group' to make their own history and allowed to blossom under his predecessor.
We see now that the 'in ross we trust' mentality was wrong and not only may have cost us in the grannies (especially in '09) but perhaps the negatives associated with the excoach could be more telling on this footy club than the positives. For the clubs sake, let's hope we can challenge and be a contender again soon.

Played another good game tonight - against a top and in-form mid-field, and again to losing rucks...
Early days, but may get into the Saintsational voting (yet) again this week. If so, that'd be votes in 8 outta' 12 rounds, and may even take the lead from Lenny...!
Keep 'em coming Armo'!
