CONTRACTS

Post: # 1225694Post creepypolar »

Seeing as we all want to know about contracts, why don't we post as many as we know on here?

I know all of last year's draft picks are uncontracted after this year (obviously) but anyone else?

Thanks for that Thunda. It got me thinking as to what to try to do with the blokes coming outta' contract. For mine some are obvious, others harder to know. But for the sake of a discussion I would like to see...

2013
David Armitage, Tom Simpkin, Jack Steven, Terry Milera, Ahmed Saad, Sean Dempster, Sebastian Ross, Jack Newnes - extend their contracts now.

2012
Brendon Goddard - Restricted Free Agent - re-sign but don't pay overs - I can understand how the hard-nosed would want the high draft pick and extra salary cap space instead. However I'm for putting loyalty first.
Lenny Hayes - Unrestricted Free Agent - up to Lenny.
Kosi - Unrestricted Free Agent - up to Kosi, current form suggests has another year in him.
Jason Gram - Restricted Free Agent - If that 4th quarter effort can become the norm c/f the exception, then re-sign for 1 year on a fair wage.
Leigh Montagna - Unrestricted Free Agent - currently not what he was, re-sign on a fair wage.
Stephen Milne - Unrestricted Free Agent - probably got another year left.
James Gwilt - Unrestricted Free Agent - extend now.
Raphael Clarke - Unrestricted Free Agent - don't know, will defer to others who'd know more.
Jason Blake - Unrestricted Free Agent - thought you were gone, but now probably have another in you Joe. There's nothing like a bloke who just really wants to play... :D
Adam Schneider - extend now.
Sam Gilbert - I'm still I fan, re-sign.
Rhys Stanley - extend now.
Arryn Siposs - extend now.
Sam Crocker - from all that I hear - shaky.
Tom Ledger - extend now, with a clause to cover coach's cat kicking scenarios.
Jarryn Geary - extend now - Sainter OK makes it 3 outta' 3 for mine!!! :D
Tom Curren - upgrade from rookie list.
Daniel Archer - don't know, will defer to others who'd know more.
Jackson Ferguson - extend now and upgrade from rookie list.
Warrick Andreoli - don't know, will defer to others who'd know more.
Dean Polo - probably re-sign for 1 year(?)
Beau Wilkes - very shaky.
Brett Peake - sorry.

Disclaimer: Assessments based on blokes being viewed from afar, based on form and potential to date, and very subject to change if better information comes to this poster's attention.

Kosi contracted to end of 2013.
Don't know about any others but this straight from horse's mouth!

Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!

Yep, story a few weeks ago stated Gram and Kosi both automatically received another year on their current deals, depending on their body's holding out (assuming that's a min. number of games in 2012 arrangement)

Kosi would be a no-brainer for another season anyway. Based on all-bar 10 mins last night, Gram should be looking at getting a VFL contract.

What do people think of Milney in 2013?

Should he play one more year or is it time to hang them up ?

Remember we have Schneider, Saad, Milera nowadays...

time has come i think. same as the g train. deserves to go out on a high, not play out a season in the vfl.

we have schneids, saad, milera, siposs, cripps who can all play in the fwd line. add to this some of the rookies and the newly drafted seniors and i think we have enough options.

Wouldn't mind getting Dunnell and Curren signed up to the seniors.

Ferguson too!
Not sure how we are going to handle all the upgrades this year with the Super draft.

Unless they think they will play they may not upgrade then depending on the amount of players that leave. I think we can hold on to these players for 3 years unless a club puts them on the main list. Doubt any club will do that with those players.

If memory serves me correct we have to either promote or delist Archer & Curren this year, not sure what rules are surrounding Ferguson as he is/was on that NSW Scholarship list. Unless rules have changed they have reached max time on rookie list.

At the moment I would suggest the players who are in danger of being delisted at the end of the year would be Jason Gram, Raphael Clarke, Jason Blake, Sam Crocker, Dean Polo, Beau Wilkes & Brett Peake.

That's only seven players. I would suggest five will go (Clarke, Blake, Crocker, Polo & Peake), and Jackson Ferguson will be promoted.

If it is a bumper draft year, we need to have at least four live picks.

A lot will depend on Gram, Kosi, Milne, Hayes and even Blake & Clarke…

A lot of money is either freed or tied up in these blokes. $2mil?

I still think the only concern is Goddard. Think the rest will stay if they are wanted.

Just an opinion though.

I believe that there may be some unexpected delistings at the end of this season. We have a number of rookies that could be promoted, plus we wil want to get involved in this draft. So it could be an interesting trade period as well.
