Scott Watters - poor sub selection
Whilst the selection panel consists of more than one, a coach usually gets the team he wants. So unless Scott Watters is being overridden by others, I assume the teams which he has selected have been those that he wanted. Of course, you can only select players who are not injured. Having said that, he has made one fundamental error in selection, which shows no sign of remedy.
He seems to have no idea about the use of the sub. From the outset, I think the whole idea of the sub is stupid, another "solution" to a non existent problem by the AFL. But we are stuck with it. The sub needs be a flexible player, preferably capable of filling a mid field role, which of course begs the question, why wouldn't he be in the team in the first place. The only time the sub has worked for us this year has been when Tom Ledger came on and got eight disposals and when Jamie Cripps came on a got two goals. And yet we have seen players like Arryn Siposs consistently used in this role. Forwards, especially young ones, are much more likely to impact a game in the first half rather than the second. Arryn should be a starter, not a sub.
And on last night, at least three players should have been selected who weren't - Tom Ledger, Raph Clarke and Adam Schneider. Instead, the actual selection showed us again just who couldn't perform under pressure, hardly a point that needed to be retested given the players concerned.

Re: Scott Watters - poor sub selection
Sub of the week? That idea is as stupid as the concept of sub. It doesn't make any sense at all, just like the idea of making someone a sub two weeks running because they were "sub of the week" the week before. My comment was not a criticism of Arryn, in fact the reverse.SainterK wrote:He worked pretty well as the sub last week, even made AFL team of the week as sub...

I agree with you if you are saying he needs a decent run at it, not as sub
