Didn't see the match myself.

Was a bit surprised he was brought back in so quickly esp given that he's always been more of a running back than a key back.

Thought last week he just needs more time, but because we're short on defenders, we don't have that option when you loose Fisher and Blake to the ruck. Not his fault. Just needs time. I thought Raph may have come in. We just have a few key injuries.

Not a great game, important player for us with Fisher out and Blake rucking for periods.

Maybe this year?

Was slow, his skills were off, he appeared fumbly and was badly beaten. Reminded me a bit of the Gwilt 2007/08 model.

However not everyone comes back from a reco like Lenny. Also I reckon Gwilts best position is HBF. He's never been a great KP player taking the best fwd. It's nights like this you realise that we actually do miss Zac. I can't recall Zac ever having a massive bag kicked on him.

Then you don't remember him playing Barry Hall or Buddy?

He was pretty average really. Thankfully we know he will improve.

Sounds like Raph may have been a better choice as he tends to play taller

Jack kicked 7 goals last year... fairly sure Zac was playing.

Just average. His timing is off and he's not got his full confidence back yet

Gwilt played on Hall and had PLENTY of help from other defenders. He is not a full back. Blake is our best bet down there with the others helping out.

wasn't he on Vickery most of the night? Vickery had what, 1 kick. Did his job first, perhaps a move should have been made onto Riewoldt when Blake rucked, felt for simpkin. Should have never been or Riewoldt. Gwilt was rusty with touch though and needs to force himself to become designated kicker, rather than ball coming our with Gilbert/Blake.

He was fine defensively.

Little rusty though.

May as well find his form in the seniors given Fisher is out injured.

He played a good month in the VFL so there was not much that could be achieved by keeping him there. Second week back is always the hard game especially on a six day turn around. He needs a bit more time but he'll be ok.

Had a stinker. Doesn't have the confidence yet and looks significantly slower. The long, raking left foot is producing shanks like never before.

Hopefully he's just taking a little while to get used to the pace of the game again. Like the rest of the defence he'll benefit hugely from the return of Fisher, Geary and also McEvoy (who both drops back and allows Blake to take his usual CHB).

a long way off getting that old strength back through his hips and legs.
he used to always just bust tackles. he looks a bit hesitant and proppy. the bye will do him good.
just send him to the gym for a weeks.

His game against Richmond was below AFL standard. Still clearly underdone. Needs a month or two of senior footy under his belt before he can reasonably be expected to get his form back to a consistently high level. Should be peaking around finals time. Hopefully we're there.

BTW if you think Collingwood, Essendon, and Hawthorn supporters are bad, last night I witnessed that they are as a drop is to the ocean in comparison to the arrogance, bias and one-eyedness that emanates from the filth section of the Tiger faithful. And it's a very large section. It wasn't all that bad last night because they're still not quite clear of the woods yet and some doubt still remains in their minds, but Lenny help us if they should become a top four team, because the potential scope for what a bunch of awful pricks that club and it's supporters could turn out to be is enormous. Whatever soft spot I had for Richmond is now dead and buried because it's beyond an understatement to say that it would really get my goat if, after we've been a class or three above them for fifteen years, they go on and win another premiership before we do.

Not many come back as strongly and quickly as Lenny.

Our whole backline couldn't of done too well considering the score we had kicked on us.

Our back-line stocks were short coming into the season and have been further depleted with injuries - no doubt we're doing it tough in that department.

But it was by no means entirely the backs fault that we had such a score kicked on us - their midfield spread was cutting us to ribbons!

Agreed..

I'm just curious why Gwilt has been singled out.
