Our last quarter
Was doing time and getting ready for another 6 day break.
Good to see them take the foot off the pedal to save the legs.
Makes me think we are in with a good shot of beating the mighty Tigers!

Re: Our last quarter
they were stuffed
dealt a shocking fixture ....4 games in 18 days including trip back from perth
will be so hard to perform at the level against tiges given the prep...........
seems almost an unfair fixture.

Re: Our last quarter
Fair go we all know that they really stuffed up in losing by Port in the first round. I think that stat will be crucial at season end.

There has only been two instances of 3 consecutive 6 day breaks in AFL history.
One is this current fiasco

And the other?

just lucky that sydney was not closer and they kicked points in the last quarter, otherwise it might have been game on.

Carlton are about to embark on a back to back to back six day break. Let's see how they go.Enrico_Misso wrote:Almost?chook23 wrote:seems almost an unfair fixture.

Melbourne tomorrow.
Six day break to play port at Sami
Sixday break to play Geelong
Six day break to play west coast in Perth.
Reckon we can't complain since all our matches bar one were at Etihad.

Yes OneEyed Sainter77 you are right.
I only looked backwards and started with all Monday night games.
Why is that game being played on a Thursday?

What are the odds of haing 6 day fixtures. If you win a flag every 18 years then you must have odss for those fixtures. Anyway 6 day breaks may be the most overhyped crap in the AFL. Our best win for the year comes after our second 6 day break and returning from Perth.

Re: Our last quarter
They looked very tired to me Plugger. It's such a demanding full-on 4 quarters of football now. However, being in Melbourne, they should be "cherry ripe" for the Tigers! I noticed that Sippos was back out on the ground running "end-to-ends" after last night's match (supervised by a fitness guy) - very professional !

Re: Our last quarter
I'm delighted we get our squished fixturing out of the way now. If we snag two on the trot against good sides now we'll be very well placed at season end. Geez those Port and Freo games. One lazy effort, and an unfortunately undisciplined, horridly officiated one. Costly in a close year.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
Re: Our last quarter
seems to be a problem in a lot of games this year, not just the six day break. It happened in both the Carlton and Hawthorn games as well. Maybe it's an overall fitness isue after losing D Misson. Given how Melbourne is travelling, he probably wishes he was still at St. Kilda.
Given that we were totally dominant in the second and third quarters, I'm not surprised they slowed down in the last.

Re: Our last quarter
Definately looked like the boys were running on EMPTY in the last Q. Was it the 2nd six day break in a row? Was it the trip back from Perth? Was it the intensity of last night's contest? We pay our fitness staff good money to get the guys up. Lets hope that they earn their money again this week !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
