Re: GC - Andrew McQualter upgraded to senior list
I'm glad Mini is getting another chance somewhere. Last year he polled in 7 out of 8 games in Sandy's B+F. The papers had him in the best 6 times and BOG four times. On a per-game basis, he was Sandy's best player last year. By the time he got injured, it was pretty clear he'd run his race here. I have no doubt he can contribute to a lesser team though. I'm not even vaguely surprised that GC have rolled him out after their showing last week. The new teams have a lot of talent, but grunt and experience are sorely lacking.
For those who scoff at the best nine possession player comment, I'd love to know where he could have got more posession from. He played pretty much exclusively inside fifty. 40-50 i50s a game and near enough to none directed at him. Forwards just don't post big possession numbers. The only forwards who have averaged more this year than the 13.4 that Mini averaged in 2010 are Roo and Milera. And while guys may be kicking more goals than Mini kicked, he always did exceptionally well in assists, winning contested ball and applying forward pressure. He also rarely turned over the ball. It's not a mystery why he had the respect of his coach and teammates, unless you rely on possession counts to tell you how a guy has played.

good luck to him!
nothing wrong with him. life is about timing. mini just happened to be in our side when we were trying to win a flag which is a whole different ball game to gc who are just trying to win a game.
hes afl standard but not premiership standard when u are in games down to the wire.
no bloody shame in that! good luck to the guy!

It's a shame he was picked up. Would've been good just as a Sandy player to help them make the top 4.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Became a fan of number 32 when I saw him sporting a porno style moustache in a game in Tassie in the mid 2000s... I glad that someone picked him up. It was only a matter of time that GC elevated him as he was doing pretty good in the twos here... Go Mini!!

At least he will be able to play his usual run-around role with no tackles and bugger all possessions or anything of note.

Was a Bees away from being a Saints premiership player. His shocking miss in the 2009 GF didn't help him, or any of his mates, from becoming St Kilda legends. Harsh but true.
Hope he goes well.

that's my point though... it was a stupid ineffective role which made him appear as an ineffective playervacuous space wrote: For those who scoff at the best nine possession player comment, I'd love to know where he could have got more posession from.
