Maybe because Raph is contracted and BJ is not.

It is my understanding that if a player has been with the club for more than 10 seasons at the conclusion of his contract that makes him unrestricted and 8 seasons restricted?

Raph only signed a one-year deal making him out of contract at the end of the season. If he had signed a multiple year deal he would not be on this list and would appear next season.

OR
A player has served 10 or more seasons of AFL football at one club, has already come out of contract once in the period after March 1 in his eighth season, and is now out of contract.

IF what the GWS chief executive is saying is the truth, then one could only assume BJ is also off their list

Big difference between the two Doc. Cloke would prolly demand something ridiculous like 1.5 mill per year from GWS....Goddard half that. Dave Matthews actually said they will still target uncontracted players, just not Cloke cos he's asking more than they are willing to commit.

BJ was taken in the 2002 draft. Hence by the end of the season he will have been at St Kilda for 10 seasons - so you would think that he would be an 'unrestricted free agent'? Wrong, because he has not yet signed a new contract since he had been at the club for 8 seasons... the club signed him up at the end of his 7th year - Nov 2009 - for another 3 seasons.... hence this is the first time since March 1 in his 8th season that he has come out of contract... so he is a 'restricted free agent'. Leigh Montagna was signed up at the same time, but his contract was done AFTER March 1st of his 8th season hence he is an 'unrestricted' free agent.

A recent HS article on the Saints bevvy of uncontracted/coming-out-of-contract players speculated/estimated that Jason Gram is currently on a salary of around 400K. If this is true then I'm disgusted. Nowhere near worth that much coin.
