WINMAR cleared of a serious ankle injury
NICHOLAS WINMAR has been cleared of a serious ankle injury this morning, after scans revealed he hasn’t suffered a fracture.
The midfielder sustained an injury to his right ankle during the second quarter of Sandringham’s game against the Northern Bullants on Sunday at Visy Park.

It's listed on his official player profile. Right click and select "Reveal Club Secrets" to see that bit - it doesn't show up in normal view.plugger66 wrote:citywest wrote:Unfortunately we rcruited him because of his name and not his football ability or lack thereof.

Didn't they disable that feature after it was revealed that Dean Polo's real surname is Nettlefold?cowboy18 wrote:It's listed on his official player profile. Re: WINMAR cleared of a serious ankle injury
I hope he gets back on the field soon- is he going to be a valuable player for us, or just a good seconds player like some of our recruits over the last few years??
Re: WINMAR cleared of a serious ankle injury
Imagine if we had Frawley or Reiwoldt?
Poor call on Nicholas but he has certainly struggled for fitness. He needs a good run at it, or he's gone.

Nothing against the kid but you can't tell me that there wasn't just a little romance involved in recruiting him?cowboy18 wrote:It's listed on his official player profile. Re: WINMAR cleared of a serious ankle injury
If you saw Nic play in the U/18 State team, you would see why the Saints recruited him.I'm not making excuses for him,but for a kid that played Claremont colts only 3 years ago, then spent most of 2010 fighting shin splints and 2011 with some soft tissue and concussion issues as well as ankle surgery in the off season,i think some comments made are a little unfair.Give him time and he'll prove himself.

Re: WINMAR cleared of a serious ankle injury
I think any "romance" with the Winmar name may have resulted in the club taking a bigger interest in his development and performances. So they may have been more aware of him. And they must have been impressed by what they saw which lead them to calling his name out at pick 32.simon.r wrote:If you saw Nic play in the U/18 State team, you would see why the Saints recruited him.I'm not making excuses for him,but for a kid that played Claremont colts only 3 years ago, then spent most of 2010 fighting shin splints and 2011 with some soft tissue and concussion issues as well as ankle surgery in the off season,i think some comments made are a little unfair.Give him time and he'll prove himself.
A bit simplistic to say the simply called out his name because of his name.
