Do you agree with one player playing his first game for the season and the other his career moving out of the team so soon?stinger wrote:i reckoned you were closer to the mark than the posters before you....stkildathunda wrote:IN: Wilkes & Ray

I know I do not. I want to see whoever it is getting an extended run in the side as I struggle to see how a half of football as a debut really shows anyone anything?

so swan and franklin wouldn't get games for st kilda?ThePunter wrote:As far as I see it in 2012, either youth or honesty. If you have neither, you are out of the team.

If we were a premiership threat the club would look at it differently.

agree with all this. Watters has shown patience before and he will again. Unless we have someone absolutely smashing down the door (we don't) for Sippos' or Saad's spot, they can't be dropped after one game.PJ wrote:Completely agree Doc..assessing the benefit of a player must be done over at least 3 games. The quick draw/baptism of fire method for me is flawed and I can't see any advantages for the team going forward.Dr Spaceman wrote:Dr Spaceman wrote:Regardless of what people thought of Siposs last week I think we've got to get away from dropping kids after one game.
And I seem to recall Arryn nearly won us this game last year
Fair enough, but the earning of the spot starts with the form at Sandy.
We need to consider the gains by allowing kids to settle into the side and adjust to the tempo.
And we don't want to give kids an opportunity only for them to stress out about whether they'll be given the flick 2 hours later.
I think the final selection will be as stated in Thursday's list. If Wilkes and Ledger can't handle that, they're not thinkung of the team.
I'd like to see a big underperforming name get dropped for a hungry reserve, to let the top boys know that they aren't safe and have to keep working. However, I think its obvious why Milne and Monty had poor games last weekend, and one more chance should be given.
At least no one can have a dig at the Blues this week to fire them up for us...
