This week - first big test
Ok - the Hawks havent lived up to expectations thus far. But no doubt they will come out 100% this week and they are one of the AFL heavyweights.
So this week is the first true test for the mighty sainters. We have Gwilty and Schneids out (2 of our top 10- players) but besides that no excuses.
I really hope we are very competitive . Will show us where we sit.

Well we were a bit underdone against the Power and the whole Ross thing psyched us out against the Dockers. So no excuses this week.

No we were poor against the power and handed Freo the win on a platter

The slippery conditions should suit us more than the Hawks. Looking forward to a great contest, with the boys giving 100% effort. As usual, "delivery" into the forward line will make or break us !

i really hope so. their fans were so cocky over summer.felix wrote:Hawks to give up 20 point half time lead and lose by 6 goals, coach furious, fans rabid, media all over it. Sliding on down the ladder.

A bit underdone? We had the best preseason for four years and virtually no injuries.Con Gorozidis wrote:bobmurray wrote:First big test......haven't we already failed a couple of little tests...

bit underdone on game practice (we missed one) and considering we have a new coach and a slightly tweaked game plan we probably werent going to be cherry ripe straight up.Bernard Shakey wrote:A bit underdone? i also rate schneider and gwilt in our top 10. so our injury situation is pretty good but not perfect.
either way this week is the first time all year we have played a team considered a genuine finalist. so there. argue that one BS!

Except Gram, Gwilt, Clarke, Schnieder and we didn't win a game preseason,Wangaratta, but on the whole it was our best.

Re: This week - first big test
Betting this morning still has the Hawks at around $1.30 and the Saints around $3.70.
All the margin betting markets are pointing to a 4-goal victory by Hawthorn, so it would be nice to see that
expectation overturned.

If I was a Hawks supporter I would be a little worried that everyone expects them just to bounce back. No one has given the Saints a chance.
As a Saints supporter I reckon we will lose by 5-7goals...

Can't see us winning, but with Lenny Hayes in the side I can't see us getting thrashed either.
One of there mates lost there father during the week who was well known within the group,I expect us to come out breathing fire

Re: This week - first big test
I'm putting $20.00 on the saints 1-39 paying $4.00. I can't beleive every-one has written us off. I think we match up very well against them. Were we will win the game is in the centre getting the ball out fast to the forwards I do not think their backline is strong enough against our forward pressure. If we tackle hard in forward line and put them under pressure players like Schoenmaker and Boumann will turn the ball over.
