Another Goddard coming through.
From the HUN
BRENDON Goddard might not be the most sought-after footballer in his family.
HUGH GODDARD CANNOT JOIN AN AFL CLUB UNTIL THE 2014 NATIONAL DRAFT. PICTURE: GLENN FERGUSON HERALD SUN
While the brilliant Saint is reportedly high on Greater Western Sydney's radar, his younger cousin Hugh is making AFL recruiters swoon.
The 15-year-old is developing into a towering key forward whose athleticism and clean skills have helped stamp him as one of the country's most outstanding prospects in his age bracket.
Geelong Falcons regional manager Michael Turner said Goddard was potentially the most exciting talent to come through the TAC Cup club's esteemed talent ranks since Luke Hodge in 2001.
"He's very good in the air and he competes hard on the ground," Turner said. "He can already go back and kick goals from 50m.
"He is a great kid and his attitude is 100 per cent right. He is an outstanding prospect."
But clubs face a wait to secure Goddard, as the 194cm goalkicker is not eligible to join an AFL club until the 2014 national draft.
If his development continues at its current rate, Goddard has been touted as a near-certain top-end draft choice and, like his cousin from St Kilda, a potential No.1 draft pick.
To help fast-track his progress and reward his excellent form, the Falcons will consider promoting Goddard from their under-16 team to the under-18 competition.
Goddard attends Melbourne Grammar, but travels to Geelong once a week to train with the Falcons.

We have a 1 in 18 chance of getting another Goddard.

Im with Clarky, we will be down there. Have to rebuild eventually, current core would have kept us going for 10years by the time that draft comes. well overdue to rebuild.
Re: Another Goddard coming through.
Careful, you will get some nuffie going after you for stating your opinion, which is quite clearly true.Griggsy wrote:Im with Clarky, we will be down there. Have to rebuild eventually, current core would have kept us going for 10years by the time that draft comes. well overdue to rebuild.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

As a qualified nuffie I would just like to say that it's not that it's your opinion, just the wrong opinion that will make us go after you. I'm still not sure what to do when a catch up though.clarky449 wrote:Careful, you will get some nuffie going after you for stating your opinion, which is quite clearly true.Griggsy wrote:Im with Clarky, we will be down there. Re: Another Goddard coming through.
Oh my god. Clarky was right! Maybe he IS an expert! ?
Interesting that 'Huge' Goddard was developed as a forward. Must have been shifted to defence later, which may explain why he went from top 5 to 21. No shame in that. Seems like he won't really be more than a pinch hitter up front for us, so a bit nervous with this Bud & Roughy noise coming off the media this week, that might be a dream too far. Personally I'll be happy if he grows another inch in the next 2 years and becomes the next Dustin Fletcher. He already looks like him. Already looks the same age too!

I think just about anyone could have predicted we would be down the bottom.
The doc was more spot on though.
