Re: VFL RD 6 - Sandringham vs Collingwood- TV /Scores
Ross a long way off. His intensity was seriously lacking today. If it's like that normally (only Sandy game I've seen him play) then there would be serious doubts in him making it moving forward.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: VFL RD 6 - Sandringham vs Collingwood- TV /Scores
Agree Ross was a bit useless today, and can butcher the ball badly.
Jackson and Dunell were terrific. Shenton is sh*t.
Siposs equals star. And see a little bit more from Curren each time. Thought Ray was ok. And Ledger had good last quarter.
For those not at the game the wind was a huge factor. And Vic Park is an amazing place to watch the footy now. Completely opened up.
Very enjoyable watching the Collingwood fans allow themselves into the game, allow themselves hope. But nope. Not this time. Again. Hugely enjoyable.

Re: VFL RD 6 - Sandringham vs Collingwood- TV /Scores
Just back. Spent the arvo leaning against the rails so I could hear some of the commentary. First time I've stood at the footy since that final Moorabbin game. Memories...
The filth crowd were quiet in the first half. Apparently busy counting their chromosome diversity. That normally wouldn't take long at all, but when you can only count to one at a time...
Sandy's third quarter was amazing - amazingly bad. That said, very poor umpiring compounded things. Not only the frees, but for example the Filth's last two goals that quarter where from marks that were not marks. The last one in particular, even the filth crowd thought was dropped and were amazed when it was paid...
Though not a gale, the wind certainly affected the carry of the ball in the air. That said, in the final quarter there were periods when it dropped right away. But that didn't matter, as by then Sandy had woken up again.
My opinions 'from what I could see':
Ledger and Sippos are wasted spending any more time in the 2's. I'd have them in for Polo (unlucky, but...) and either (for the moment) Cripps or Newnes.
I thought Jimmy just did what he had to and got through another game. In for Blakey once the powers-that-be think he's ready.
Dunnell-can-play. Just needs a bit more time in the gym and then look out world(!)
Cockie (definitely), Coleman and Cook worth the club looking at next draft.
Ferguson coming along well, but still a bit to go.
Darch looked dangerous, but as some have said isn't the most nimble bloke out there...
I really like Saad. Reckon he will be very good for us. Sure a few fumbles first game back, but continually looks dangerous, and is.
Shenton disapointing. Didn't do thing - that I saw anyway.
Peake and Ray, I thought were ok, but I feel they are now not our future - depth players only. Sorry fellas...
The biggest disappointment for me though was Cuz. He's bigger now, so should be able to match it with most. But he showed absolutely nothing to suggest he'll be a league fooballer. Prove me wrong Cuz... please.
The rest, I didn't see enough of/didn't know their numbers to comment on.
And a word of praise for one of the enemy. Jackson Paine (as mentioned by one of the OPs) can certainly take a strong pack grab. Should he ever realise the error of his ways and want to come to the light, then he'd be worth pursuing I reckon.
PS: Don't know who will be the unlucky one, but I hope Wilkesy plays tonight (as looks likely given Cuddle's hints). I'm keen to see what he can do. I suspect Beau has far more to offer us than just a back up for a big defender's position.

Much appreciated run down of the game. Was out and about with the Mrs picking up her shoes from the cobblers.

Re: VFL RD 6 - Sandringham vs Collingwood- Reviews
■Sandringham showed it was a big mover after yesterday's 11-point win over Collingwood at Victoria Park.
Even after the Pies kicked eight unanswered goals in the third term to take a one-goal lead into the final change, the Zebras stood tall under pressure with cricketer-turned-footballer Jackson Coleman finishing with three goals and the sealer in the 18.15 (123) to 16.16 (112) win.
While St Kilda's depth added talent, Hamish Shepheard, who was best on ground yesterday, and skipper Beau Dowler provided plenty of avenues to attack. The third-placed Zebras face an out-of-form Bendigo next week. Despite the win, coach Simon McPhee said the team had dropped off. ''We've got a fair bit of work to do,'' he said.

mad saint guy wrote:Just caught the last 45 minutes of play on TV. Ledger was a big part of the revival in the final quarter - dominating clearances by feeding off the opposition ruckmen. Siposs very clever and damaging, Ferguson getting amongst it and Archer provides a strong contest up forward. Winmar still looks shaky, Peake and Ray seem to be cruising along and just waiting for a recall rather than demanding it. Gwilt didn't play with much intensity but is getting valuable fitness and should be ready in a couple of weeks.
Siposs is learning how to play on the wing. he will only improve.

Re: VFL RD 6 - Sandringham vs Collingwood- Reviews
Curren in the best again....He must be having an outstanding season and if he keeps it up will surely be considered to be promoted at seasons end.
Sounds like Siposs had a blinder. I'd love to see him selected against the Hawks. We'll need some skilled and penetrating kickers against their zone.

Sipposs servicable, not a blinder but good, given the third quarter disaster wouldn't say anyone had a blinder

Dislike how superlatives are overused leaving no room for further development or expansion,
Usually I would be accused of being to forgiving

I disagree. Ross has to come in as soon as possible. His hands are so clean and decision making is spot on. His numbers would jump up to in the AFL as hed get of cheap ball that he doesnt get in the VFL.

Regardless of whichever jumper is being worn, NO way was that one held long enough to be paid a mark! How long did he hold it, barely one New York second? Pity the replay didn't show the 'marks' which lead to Collingwood's last two goals in that third quarter. (When Collingwood was involved, those umpires were far more generous than Bratty in the OP.)stkildathunda wrote:Goal & Mark of the Day -

Ok, ok..., slow mo from the frontal view does show the Sandy player's arm knocking the ball out on the way down. You are correct P66. (Grumble, grumble) I'm prepared to pay that one. But hey, I stand by those other two not being marks. Please don't totally ruin my day and come up with sound supporting evidence for those...plugger66 wrote:Dave McNamara wrote:Regardless of whichever jumper is being worn, NO way was that one held long enough to be paid a mark!
