The last quarter was always going to be full of stoppages, holding on for dear life, contested footy....Polo was just what was needed.

Did you honestly think it was going to pretty?

Well said, the usual footy experts showing their usual football knowledge.

Polo was very good in close and at the contests all through the last quarter.

tell me you armchair hero's how many points did Melbourne score in the last quarter?

What was that?

Sorry cant hear you.

How many was it again?

No you guys are missing the point that there were other passengers tonight that deserved to be subbed before Wilkes.
Don't waste your time arguing with those that don't have a clue..it's always the same idiots anyway....

It was ballsy (not ladylike, but in this circumstance, completely appropriate)

He knew that the last quarter was going to be what it was, dare I say it, but I think we have a 'match day coach'
How can taking a supposedly injured player off be called "ballsy" and "match day coach" defining?

IF Wilkes wasnt injured it was dumb - pure and simple. We kicked 1.4 or 1.5 in the last, constantly bombed the ball in there and couldnt take a mark to save our life. Milne sagged off out the back and until Gartlett got injured was being pantsed in the last. Riewoldt was nowhere near it. Had Wilkes not been injured (would like to hear more on this) whose to say we couldnt have won by 4 or 5?

I too reckon Polo on as a sub was a good move - Id have bought him on for Gram/Cripps IF Wilkes wasnt injured.....

Wouldnt call that move "ballsy" though.....
I can call it what I like though.

It's my opinion.

You are kidding yourself if it was going to continue to be leading forward kind of footy.

I'd like to know who people thought should of been subbed off?

So far, I have heard Riewoldt, Gram, Gilbert, Cripps, Milne and Stanley.

Anyone but Wilkes apparently.

He is the new saviour apparently.

What I do get is the fact that you need to have more points on the board at the end of the game to have won.

Maybe you can answer.

How many points did Mlebourne score in the last quarter? :D :D

This is too funny watching the Einsteins like you and bobnmurray squirm after making such stupid posts earlier :D :D

keep it up young fella, it is hilarious.

Melbourne scored 0 points in the last quarter. Have you forgotten already?. Better not leave the retirement home tonight, might not find your way back.

Polo was good when he came on. Conditions suited his style. But i dont agree with taking Wilkes off. Obviously Scott Watters agree, seeing as he tried to reverse the decision.

That must have hurt you to look at that scoreline and realise that your idiotic, ignorant, clueless, infantile, banal, vacuous posts earlier has been shown up for what they were.

Now tell us again about your glittering footballing career you are so keen for everybody to know about :D :D :D

Joffa you are as big as tosser as Plugger! No one has said Polo should not have come on what people are suggesting that Wilkes should have remained. I posted before I heard Watters state he was injured which I will accept on face value!

We won didn't we?
Didn't bother visiting a friend or rellie with Austar as I had a feeling it would be a poor game.
Bit shocked reading that he'd been subbed off - but it appears we won and polo played well.
Wilkes will feel a bit miffed, but he played a fair part in the win and goes to bed tonight knowing it.

Wilkes didn't deserve to come off at all but the move was made for team balance..Polo was good and the move made sense and SainterK and Joffa are right about this..

Wilkes tried to come off after he kicked that goal in the third ,( had either tightness or a bit a cramp) . Had to stay on , then took that screamer and the resulting kick made what ever was wrong with him that little bit worse , thats why he was benched , He only had 4 kicks , luckily for us he scored 3.1 with them !

Wow, another heated discussion on here. I'm also an armchair hero, but with the emphasis on the former and none on the latter. I'm also in the camp of the disappointed that Wilkesy had to leave the ground. Hope whatever he twinged can be untwinged for next week.

It seems to me that the points in favour of bringing on the Poloverizer were mainly to do with the need for tough hard football, especially once the rain set in. I totally agree.

My question though is..., if Wilkesy had not twinged whatever he twinged, how could Grammy have been be left on the field given those requirements?
