Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
Congrats to Milne. Hayes virtually playing a solo effort tonight.
I can't believe how pathetic this is. I thought we'd be looking to score nearly 30 goals tonight. Admittedly, the rain meant that would never happen. But even with the rain we should still be up by 5 or 6 goals at half time.
Someone mentioned in another thread that if we go down to Melbourne we won't have to worry about tanking, we'll struggle to beat teams naturally. It's starting to look that way now.

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
top stuff by milney. for trivia buffs - milera was the assist.
we really have a game on our hands. joey done nothing. cripps hadnt done much but is playing fwd which is pretty hard positon and he had a few touches late in the 2nd.
bj having a shocker. our defence looks shaky. gilbo probably our best defender. the blake going ok.
roo hurt himself late in the 2nd. nothing serious. scrappy game and demons showing some fight which we havent seen from them in 12 months or so.

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
Typically we have given the Demons a sniff and they've found some form. Our defence has been pitiful, apart from Sam Fisher. Simpkin, Geary, Gilbert and Blake have been dreadful.
Are we waiting for a saviour?

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
What a pathetic quarter that was!! Melbourne are playing with real spirit and endeavour and we just look lazy and disinterested. We should still win the game but the way we have played so far is very disappointing.
Have to say it guys - we are a middle of the road team that plays s*** away from the Dome.
Will get flogged if we bring this rubbish next week.
Oh it gets better. Polo is still yet to be subbed on.
Also congrats to Milney on goal number 500!!!

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
Still getting killed in clearances and contested ball. I hope Watters give them an absolute pasting at half time that was 'million $' stuff Saints very poor. McEvoy us getting monstered and hasnt given a peep! Steven & armitage need to lift the demon sweepers around contests killing us same as last week. I wonder if Watters & laidley have any f.....n idea about midfield set ups we are getting killed.
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
Most of that quarter we were soft. Plenty of easy balls for Melbourne, disappointing. A general lack of teamwork, no so much selfishness but panic kicking. We often had open players that just needed a tap from the pack or chip kick, instead we bombed blindly.

What's wrong with BJ's head?
Has it fallen or or something?
He's lost the plot. I hope Watters has a word to him at half time and instruct him to
Play footy and stop being a sook. It's pathetic and weak from a
champion player. Amateur stuff.

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
im trying to be nice!
they are shaky but have cut off a few attacks...
i think the issue are our mids and the clearance work. we are 3rd to the ball every time.

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
People keep saying we should of been in front by 5 goals. Why is that? We are an average team now. We cant keep expecting to skip ahead every game.

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
The club needs to consider dropping Roo for a month,at no fault of his own,but the teams simpleton approach of kicking it sideways to him on every f-ing occasion!
FFS,we break free through the center on a fast break, then kick at 45 degress to Roo with 2 on him, every time, non sensical crap! He is not Tony Lockett or Stewart Loewe, and never will be! Use your heads and kick it to someone's advantage inside 50 other than Rewoildt...FFS!

Congrats Milney!
Hang in there boys, Demons have played strongly the last two weeks but wilted when the game was to be won.
It had to turn at some point, and it always seems to be that poor teams have a crack against teams that should easily account for them, perhaps it's that lack of pressure. Given they were thought a chance v the Dogs/Richmond.

Re: Game Thread vs Melbourne.
laidley is supposed to be a midfield guru. but ini really its a pretty simple game. you can tell the players whatever and have a million whiteboards but if they arent hungry for the contest and are 3rd in it means nothing. we are being beaten for hunger and hardness by the worlds softest ever team. admittedly they are showing a bit tonight.WinnersOnly wrote:Still getting killed in clearances and contested ball. i was at the dees v eagles game. and seriously the dees shoud not have wasted the airfares and carbon emissions and just forfeited. they did not try at all. but they do look a lot harder tonight.SainterK wrote:Congrats Milney!

Has anyone seen goddard play well in the wet before?... appears to turn into an unco once the rains arrive... moves like he is running through torrential downpour in the vietnam jungle in 1972..
