as we know not many teams have a winless year. we need to really go out hard in the first 1/4 and not give them any stuipid ideas that this week is their week. snuff them out early and they will give up.
yes
we just need to kick straight

Polo and Jones V Magner and Jones in the middle will be serious funny if it eventuates... Will literally just be passing the ball back and forth... with the occasional out on the full...

I can't work out who is the best kick out of the 4, or the worst for that matter...

Probably goes, from best to worst: Nathan Jones, Polo, Magner, Clint Jones... But others may reverse it and be closer to the mark...

As several others on here have mentioned, I too (yep two 'o's  ) suspect a late substitution into the team. Why? Coz that's what we seem to do every week...

And wouldn't it be ironic if the late 'in' was... Ledger?

(Where's that irony icon mods'?)

Seems Wilkes has been named on sandy's extended bench, so may be brought in.

Ledge named a starter for em...
Not sure if this means much though

They haven't been that bad stoppage wise.

Magner may run with one of Dal or Lenny like he did Boyd last week, so Jones needs to run with one of theirs....perhaps Jones?

Polo may take someone like Sylvia?

Colin Sylvia will make a big difference to the Dees and is their danger man. Polo or Jones taking him out of the game makes our day a lot easier.

Wet night, young opposition, smart move to choose an experienced, hard bodied midfielder with a proven record in tough wet weather contests on the MCG (Gram) ...

We do want to win the game don't we?

Watters still has 4-5 young kids in the side. He is actually giving them all a decent crack, 5-6 games in a row, not just 1 or 2 matches and then back to the VFL. This is good for their confidence and good for the coaches to get a proper look at them.

Don't be surprised in the next couple of weeks if Ledger and Siposs are selected and they get a good run of 5-6 matches in a row.

Both are emergencies, which means they are close to playing.

Good side IMO.

nah. he was a late out in round one, played seniors round two, sandy reserves round three, sandy seniors round four. so he's played the last three weeks and only missed round one.

Why would he get a game this week? He was very ordinary at Sandy on Sunday.

Melbourne area Foreacst for Saturday

Partly cloudy. Patchy fog in the northeast early in the morning. Scattered showers from the late morning, more frequent in the southeast. Winds west to northwesterly 20 to 30 km/h increasing to 40 km/h before turning southwesterly 25 to 35 km/h during the evening
.

So a medium for a tall probably makes sense, for other a week of heavy rain the G will be wet and slippery.

One thing about Gram...is we need more pace in the team.

When on song Gram is very good.

We have a hard run of games coming up post-Dees and we need to snag one to make up for losing to Freo and PA.

More pace in the team is something we need.

We are still playing an ample amount of new players. So all in all I am comfortable with the selection.
Watters state pre-season that places needed to be earnt, and some of the youngters at Sandi havea beena bit down at present.

Wilkes is stiff...but weather may be a factor. A dry sat afternoon may see a late change.

Finally some common sense.

Like Siposs, Ledger hasn't been setting the world on fire for Sandy yet week in week out, people bemoan their non-selection. If anything, I've been a little disappointed with both of them since the pre-season.

Ledger is a young and talented kid with a bright future. Rest assured his time will come; however, there is no harm in making him earn his spot.

If anyone should count themselves unlucky, I'd say Wilkes should do so. He's been quite impressive up forward and with Kosi's suspension you would think he'd be due a call-up. But with that said, I'm pleased to see Gram back and I hope Scotty can give him the confidence to recapture his '09 form...just ask Stanley what a bit of confidence from the senior coach can do...

every single week people predict 'late ins' but apart from freak accidents they never happen.
the selected side is the actual side about 95% of the time.
if they wanted ledger instead of cripps or newnes they would have said so yesterday. or wilkes for that matter.
and they also probably know how to read a weather forecast as well.

Correct.

As for the weather, it may be a dry night. They are hardly forecasting
Rain and storms.

Sylvia is a dangerous inclusion for them - 20d 5t a game, and 25 goals total last year

He's like Schneider with a higher tackle count

I'd say because each time he has been the sub, he has looked great, shown real hunger for the contest and had a heap of the ball? Most people are wondering if he could sustain that for a full game…

I agree.

Lucky for us though, Ablett debunked the theory this year that one guy can win a game for a team...

Heard Watters comment on the KB show that Wilkes was still very much in consideration and he would decide if so a bit later.

Even if he was he'll hardly get a bruise this week.
