Re: Incompetent umpiring
Urgh... If I knew that central umpire had put his mortgage on Freo tonight I would have jumped on as welll! Maybe it's the cynic in me but these days with gambling almost considered normal it's the first thing that pops into my head when I see an umpiring display like that. Helped them get over the back and into space maybe 6 or 7 crucial times. Anyway... We butchered opportunities as well... that's 2 matches that have got away from us. Draining experience tonight.

Re: Incompetent umpiring
The umpiring didn't make our players miss all those easy shots at goal , thats why we lost !!!!!
However I was pissed off with the way they bounced the far ken ball !!!!!
Watch the replay , 5 times in a row in the 2nd quarter at the centre bounce , the ball went directly sideways to their ruck advantage . one gave sandilands a easy tap to a running player who kick it to a lead , and a easy goal. These things happen from time to time , but when it happens 5 times in a row it makes you wonder why the d@#$heads don't just throw it up.

Re: Incompetent umpiring
I did like the one where Sandi almost slipped a disc bending back to avoid being smacked in the head by the bounce. However, they didn't get first use of it as often as us...we just used it badly and screwed all our hard work.mr six o'clock wrote:The umpiring didn't make our players miss all those easy shots at goal , thats why we lost !!!!!

Re: Incompetent umpiring
Three bad decisions I can recall
One, a holding the ball....which freo got away with
Two, Riewoldt's horrible decision
Three, high on Milne....
The Reiwoldt one was the only real glaring one..... It was clear

Re: Incompetent umpiring
good on ya! so did i. just got home. we wasted opportunities in the first ten of the final quarter, when we had the momentum. that lost us the game. the umpires are a random variable but they weren't the difference tonight.bergsone wrote:But I did watch the game
Re: Incompetent umpiring
Look we had our chances but as a supporter I feel pretty deflated after tonight. How Ballantyne gets such a good deal with the umps for such a dirty mongrel astounds me. His free against Blake which resulted in a goal was there sure, but exact same thing happened in q4 to Joey and yep play on and freo goal. That dal holding the ball was a disgrace. Roo, Kos and Rhys deserved about 5 frees each, yet Zac gets the arm chop that was missed all night. Simpkin deserved half a dozen which were missed. Milney should have had at least a couple at crucial stages. Just so one sided...
Away from umps, Geary was so disappointing. Wont say I told you all so as he has been good this year but his disposal by foot was woeful and I have always said that is what is holding him back. Milera was flashy and brilliant but needs to know when to do the team things. Newnes wasnt the worst and as an 18 year ill cut him so slack. All sorts of emotions after tonight i feel as though we lost more than just 4 points tonight...

Re: Incompetent umpiring
The one that bothered me the most was when Rooey got king hit in the third quarter and it was called play on. Really no excuse for missing that one.

Re: Incompetent umpiring
The tackle by Nick in the last five minutes where the Freo player put the ball on the ground, I repeat, put the ball on the ground would have to one on the most incompetent decisions we have seen for a while. We were a goal down at the time and that decision cost us any chance of winning.
Re: Incompetent umpiring
We got away with a few throws, so I'd let that one slide. But some of the "arms around the neck" were pretty inexcusable.perfectionist wrote:The tackle by Nick in the last five minutes where the Freo player put the ball on the ground, I repeat, put the ball on the ground would have to one on the most incompetent decisions we have seen for a while. Re: Incompetent umpiring
I must have missed the Roo ones...Zacs arms all over Kosi with 5 minutes to go was a standout, as was Milne having his head pulled off, Kosi being blocked from a ruck contest, Ballantyne shoving Geary over the line about 2 minutes after Ballantyne had been awarded a push whilst Geary had the ball, there's a ton of them. HOWEVER, nothing beats the trickle of lame kicks into a F50, although god know what we would have done with the extra shots on goal.

Re: Incompetent umpiring
First off our skills where poor no doubt. But if anyone tells me our forwards shouldnt have been rewarded another 6 frees I will spew up. Constantly blocked knocked over held hit high nothing. Then when Roo gets one from 6 when McPharlin wraps his arm around him and punches him in the head with the other clowns scream hes looked after. Its a disgrace and if they paid them early rather than allowing the defenders to keep infringing the game would open up and Roo and Kosi could beat there opponent with skill.

Re: Incompetent umpiring
So lets get this straight. People tell us they favourr the home side when playing an interstate side but it seems they dont when playing us and then they cheat because they dont want us to win. That makes sense.

24 frees says that is completely wrong.

Re: Incompetent umpiring
Need to watch a replay but I wouldn't say the umpiring went our way.
