Re: Lenny Hayes
One of the triple M commentators said something about him that I thought was very fitting.
"If you have daughters, Lenny is the kind of guy you want coming knocking"..
"If you have daughters, Lenny is the kind of guy you want coming knocking"..
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Re: Lenny Hayes
Honest Lenny tells it like it is.
David King's question to Lenny after the final siren about the new recruits and younger blokes; "Do you think the young guys are having a bit of an impact?"
Lenny's reply went something like; "I think they're having an impact on the senior guys to tell you the truth, with there big preseason and there enthusiasm!!"
The whole playing list needs to be utilised if we're gonna play deep into September. I think that the emergence of Armo and Geary and the return of Grammy will allow some of the older blokes to get a rest from 3 weeks of play on Etihads hard surface. The boys need to go hard against Freo and then rest someone like Lenny and Roo and perhaps even Milney.

Re: Lenny Hayes
What a fkn tackle. Reminded me of the one he put on Swan in 2010 GF.
Thought I would never admire a midfielder for the Saints more than Harves, but boy Lenny is a marvel.

Lance or James??

Re: Lenny Hayes
Bigred that is a corker of a quote. Genuine LOL at that.
Now, Lenny is a champion nothing more can be said and I woulod like to apologise for saying I don't think we'll see him get back to his best coming off his second knee reco.
He isn't there but I can see him slowly getting back there and that makes me ecstatic - to know, even though he has played very well this season, he will be even better than this too!

Re: Lenny Hayes
Tackles harder than most rugby players. Probably be a star rugby player if he had wanted to.
Good call playing AFL Sir Lendog!

Re: Lenny Hayes
My son has learnt to play watching Lenny and if he breaks his neck I'm going to be pissed, but as a player Lenny makes your eyes water with satisfaction that he plays for us. A big call but he's def my favourite of all time now. I loved Harves, Winmar and Lockett even Loewe in their day but no other player has just bought their best to every contest in every game the same way.

I reckon it was a wasted opportunity NOT giving more games to Armo and Steven and they would have played well and contributed even in 09 and '10. The fact that the younger guys were'nt challenging for spots was not what you want in a footy club and surely doesn't bring out the best performances in the main group and the second tier under the core list of champions. How could they not learn and grow playing next to Lenny Lyon could not - and did not - blood youngsters and I reckon we suffered because of it and perhaps it was the difference in winning and losing the ultimate.

Re: Lenny Hayes
Was the architect of two inspirational passages of play in the 3rd quarter that blew the game wide open.
