The Saints have secured Sam Fisher for a further two (2) years to the end of 2014, and Ben McEvoy for a further three (3) years to the end of 2015.

Head of Football, Chris Pelchen, said the re-signings reflected the strong contribution both players were making to the St Kilda Football Club.

“We’re a Club firmly focused on the future and it’s very pleasing that Sam Fisher and Ben McEvoy will be a part of that future.”

“I think it speaks volumes that both Ben and Sam were named in the Club’s Leadership Group for 2012,” reflected Chris Pelchen.

Ben McEvoy, 22, was drafted by the Saints in the 2007 National Draft with pick #9 overall and debuted in 2008.

Based on recent postings no doubt a couple of forumites will be upset with the McEvoy signing

But for the vast majority of us it is fantastic news.

And it was only a while back that some people were expressing their concerns that GWS would get their hooks into the big fella, so it's a relief that's been averted.

The shitter the new clubs play the less enticing they become. Clubs like carlton have very little room to move in their flexible caps but if they do offer too much the afl will look through their books again. It will be harder to get guys to move without the promise of a fast build which is now looking unlikely. Clubs like north would be the ones who could fit a player like bj but are broke.
