rewatched the game. polo was alot better than i thought. he was the only player looking like winning a contested possession. peake on the other hand couldnt even tackle anyone, wanted the easy possession.

polo will come straight back into the side when available. armitage a step above peake and ray. ray if selected is on his last chance before he faces peakes fate.

Great to see some young guys getting a go. Even in a soft game. Hope it's a sign of things to come. Hope they take their opportunity and make it hard for older, less skilled players to find their way back into the seniors. Good luck kids.

I think the outs are fair based on performance.

I think the ins are fair based on performance.

So all is good.

Congrats to Newnes....number 16 for those playing at home ;)

Looking forward to cheering them all on, go Saints!

Axe falls on Saints trio

Matt Windley FINAL TEAMS: ST KILDA regulars Farren Ray, Brett Peake and Dean Polo dumped for youth and the Cats promote Simon Hogan.
Herlad Sun Heading
Mmm Matt Polo was suspended not eligible anyway.

How are the media going to keep up now we have 18 teams?

Hmm maybe that is because we had 4 in a row, trying to make the eight. Maybe that was why. Not to mention many of our youth got injured during the year. Dont bring the Lyon hate in to this.

my thoughts on our thinking...
gilbert replaces polo and simpkin takes gilbert's key position spot. frees gilbert up a bit to run etc...
armo takes peakes position at hff, and ledger takes armo's central role, but you can still have armo come into the centre in bursts.
newnes replaces ray as sub to potentially replace either ledger or cripps.

Good chance to give the younger ones like newnes and Simpkin a run against GC. Like it.

Lyon had many man opportunities to play youth and went with his mediocre "role" brigade. Dont bring your Lyon love in to this.
Anyway - lets all move on! The new era has officially been ushered in!
We have yoof coming in. Winmar as emergency. Ross going well at Sandy and some good rookies.

Clearly, if you can remember last year, we had youth coming in. Cant remember the exact numbers. Cearly many players suffered injuries and then struggled to come back into the team, when we started to make a comeback in the season. Dont let your unintelligent football mind from knowing the facts.

+1
Marco wasnt bad at all. Only his kicking is his weakness.
I though Peake was looking for the easy ones. As was Joey (I hate to say it).

I rememeber it all too well.
Fact: St Kilda have the lowest number of games for players under 25 in the AFL.

are you getting paid by a pr firm to protect lyons reputation/perception?

I'm happy to see Newnes in, don't get me wrong, but can anyone suggest when he played so well to justify his selection based on earlier performance?
I saw him in NAB and thought he was serviceable, looked capable, but didn't stand out in particular.
I watched him against the Boxhill Hawks, I think he was out there, didn't really notice to be honest.
But I'm not sure against Ballarat how he went. Don't think I read any mention of him.
My presumption is he is internally highly rated (obviously) and has trained extremely well, and is now being given a crack?

or the Cripps role off half back ... given GCS have some light weighted small forwards

What does the likes of Milera and Newnes getting a game ahead of Winmar mean? Cuz of Cuz would ideally want to start really showing something pretty soon, since he's been here a lot longer than the likes of those two, yet seems to be behind them already.

Yep, he is named at FB. Dont think that needs to change seeing as the positions on the list mean nothing these days.

Yeah but he was a stick when he arrived. Putting on some bulk the right way takes a few years. Monty took four or five years to start being a regular.
