Firstly they went from the least interchanged to the most. They also didnt go through the middle of the ground anywhere near as much. They had more kicks than handballs compared to previous years and they also were much more defensive.

Didn't I read Cats under Scott kicked more and handballed less? I was under the impression the main reason for this was to combat zones/full press - especially Pies as they'd been belted by them?

We'd do this also.... if we had more than 2 elite kicks in the side who both often get stuck in defense....

Cairnsman: same here, I think they are mostly preceived: The talk was that in Thompsons last year, the players were in conflict with the coach regarding "changes to the game plan". Scott said there would not be changes. GO figure.

interchange numbers had more to do with rule changes to the bench numbers.
corridor ? that is pure perception ALL TEAMS TRY to controll the corridor in defense, which usually means attack is mostly via the wings unless you get a midfield turn over. i can guarantee you one thing in 2012, "someone" will be the first to call WE use the boundary more often, just like collingwood. (the Watters - ex-collingwood game plan)
more kicks? universally regarded as the best way to break the offensive press of numbers (get the ball over the wall)
more defensive? 2008 = 1846 (points against) 2009 = 1815 (p.a) 2010 = 1702 (p.a) 2011 = 1619 (p.a)
I would call that a trend.

Cats were absolutely a handball team under Thompson - that was certainly a game change under Scott. They realized they couldn't handball their way out of a press....

That is true but the thing with Geelong is that they are very good at knowing when to use a number of quick hand balls and when to kick long. That's what I noticed and that is why I was so impressed.

What were the Saints ranked last year for defence and attack?

Does anyone know where to find it?

In 2009 I think the Saints were 3rd in attack, 2010 not sure, was last year 12th?

Just curious.

Kingy still trying to deflate Saints- said worst game of weekend- Most others say Melbourne
Saints gone.. etc etc - but conversation went no further and I felt others reserving judgement ( the Insiders)

then short while later Lynchy brings out the video- from second quarter- on the saints creating the overlap and beating Port on several occasions.
Kingy said nothing..

I may be karma because I loved it when North started to burst at the seams. I cheered when Burkey and who ever that ruckman was removed Corey Mc kernans collarbone and inserted it in his spinal column. I laughed with glee at those vain twats with their dirty swingers party gone wrong. And that King was one of those guys that had a touch of the pole inserted and needed to come down hardest.

I see the same with the Saints people are gleeful after we were up and about so long. I have people s*** stirring me about how good a deflated saints are because of our game style. They can all F off we aren't finished yet and I wont concede until I have to, well not until Rooey ends up fornicating with someones missus in the crapper and ends up in Adelaide anyway. Kingy can go play with himself in the meantime he's the Derryn Hinch of footy journalism.

If only we had a Wayne Carey in '97.'04-2010 we might have as many flags as North'
I don't have much issue with where people put their Willy if they play like Carey!

2010 - 5364 kicks & 5228 handballs
2011 - 5364 kicks & 4204 handballs

Same amount of kicks however 1000 less handballs

absolutely: geelong has still headed the handball table over recent times, the change has been a trend rather than a "perceived" departure of the game plan as such. Geelong do what they do well, and that is to hand ball out of trouble to a player in better position. If that means 4-6 rapid fire handballs so be it. And just in case anyone has forgotten, they are the most successful team over recent times as well.

We were written off in 2010 after our mini slump (ah, the good old days), in 2011 and now so really, what's changed? They'll keep writing us off.
