Re: Team Rnd 1
Centre line the equal or better than any in the league.
Defence - don't mind experimenting with Gilbert at fb. Blake ready if gilbo gets moved.
would like to see milera given a run based purely on reports of his vfl outing and against his old team.

Isn't it the other Milera that was the PA player?desertsaint wrote:

Terry came from the Port Magpies so Power are sort of his old team.
Re: Team Rnd 1
yeah, blake has to play. good for him to get to his 200, many didn't think he'd get past about 50. but our defence still looks pretty shaky.BigMart wrote:Blake will be used as a tall defender and was preferred to simpkin
interesting also to see ray preferred to cripps on the hbf. i'm not convinced he showed that much in the pre-season to justify it but we'll need the experience back there.
obviously peake doesn't start in the back pocket, so it will be something like:
FB: Gilbert, Blake, Geary
HB: Ray, Fisher, Dempster
looks pretty flexible if not exactly lock-down specialists. not many other options though if there's some sort of injury during the game.

Re: Team Rnd 1
Gotta love footy. A week ago most on here had saad as a certain starter for the 22, but a great game by Milera in the VFL last weekend earned him a spot in the 25, when most if not all thought he was just "steak knifes" when we first got him.
Sainter for life.

Peake Gilbert Geary - That is butcher city. Has there ever been three worse kicks of the ball named on one line together?

i reckon it'll be siposs, polo and milera to miss out.ando051 wrote:B: Peake (#30), Gilbert (#19), Geary (#14)

this gives the selected side an average age of 26.55 years. for all watters' youth focus, there were only three games last year where lyon's team was older than that - round 1, round 24 and the elimination final.
but he might surprise me and play siposs or milera in place of wilkes. just not sure what that means for port's massive forward line.

Re: Team Rnd 1
If you are correct bergholt that is very disppointing and smacks of a coaching team who are aleady not true to there word! Milera deserves a chance in front of his home state and Siposs has been great all pre-season they are the future!!! If you are wondering who I would leave out it, would be Peake and Geary. We need more skilled kicks in the team to go forward and they have that in spades over the Peake & Geary.bergholt wrote:i reckon it'll be siposs, polo and milera to miss out.ando051 wrote:B: Peake (#30), Gilbert (#19), Geary (#14)

nah, i don't agree with that. maybe just a coaching team who actually want to win a game or two. round one is pretty important for a variety of reasons, including confidence across the club from players to supporters. i don't mind them really trying to win it.
i'd probably have siposs in there somewhere but milera's not quite there yet, for mine. hard to drop geary though when we're already short of defenders - who else is going to play small back?WinnersOnly wrote:Milera deserves a chance in front of his home state and Siposs has been great all pre-season they are the future!!! Perhaps look at it on games played basis rather than an average. We have a few older blokes that skew the numbers, particularly if Blakey comes in at fullback (as he probably should).bergholt wrote:i reckon it'll be siposs, polo and milera to miss out.ando051 wrote:B: Peake (#30), Gilbert (#19), Geary (#14)

On that basis there's Steven, Ledger, Stanley, and possibly one or more of Sipposs, Milera and Cripps to crow about. We can't go throwing kids to the sword at the expense of guys who may be older but deserve selection on merit.
Keen to see Ledger have a real dip.

On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

I believe this to be correct.stkildathunda wrote:According to @stkildafc IPhone App Jamie Cripps, Beau Wilkes & Dean Polo are emergencies this week
We cant have Kosi Blake and Wilkes in the same side unless we have to . Just too immobile.
Im pumped for Tezza but disappointed for Crippsy - For Crippsy to play - he will need to depose one or two of Geary/Peake/Ray in that back-line.

Yea wouldn't think they would, but why do they have emergencies listed if none have been named. Pretty bad form either way!!

Armitage, Blake, Polo and Milera are in the side.
Blake get's his 200th game.
Blake get's his 200th game.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.
