So sad :(

He defied the medical profession for so much of his battle, even having the opportunity to holiday with his loved ones only recently.

He has left an amazing legacy, the reach foundation has changed the lives of so many young people.

RIP Jim, and thoughts and prayers with the Stynes family.

The MCG is free this weekend.

Be great to see it packed out for a memorial to the legend if they can organize it in time.

Really. really awful news. My mother had cancer and has recovered for the time being and it is a truly terrible thing for everyone involved. My thoughts go out to Jim's family and friends. The world has lost a truly inspirational person. RIP Jim

Sadly, Jimmy was never going to recover. He was on borrowed time that got plenty of extensions. An amazing effort to live so long in his condition.

He carried himself to the end in such a way that would be hard to follow if one was put in a similar situation.

Truly a life to be celebtrated.

R.I.P. Jim.

So what happend?

How did he die?

It's been kept very quiet.

Normally it's heart attack or maybe stroke in long suffering cancer patients.

Or maybe he had had enough and took it upon himself.....couldn't blame him if that was the case.

I always thought at the end of Cancer the body just starts to shut down and the heart slowly stops beating.

I am sadddened. Jim was a true ambassador
I am sure Melbourne will dedicate the season to him and have a red hot go. Wouldn't like to be playing the demons in the opening round.
