Top Ten Paid Players at the club
With Free agency coming in next year, i thought this might be relevant..
I am guessing but this may be the order...
1. Rooey
2. BJ
3. Dal
4. Lenny
5. Fisher
6. Kosi
7. Monty
8. Milney
9. Gilbert
10. Shneids ?
Anyhoo.. Most of those players are over 28 right?
We MAY be in a position in a couple of years, more than most, to take advantage of Free agency, No?

Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
I think the grambulance is on huge money, probably ahead of Schneider, Milne, Kosi and Gilbert?
The top 5 look pretty close and you're right, in a couple of years maybe only one or two of those will be left.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gram in the top 5dragit wrote:I think the grambulance is on huge money, probably ahead of Schneider, Milne, Kosi and Gilbert?

Roo, BJ, Lenny, Dal then Gram. I wouldn't know after that. You'd think Fisher and Monty would be on good coin? Pretty sure Gilbert had a nice pay rise.
Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
I don't reckon Kosi is that high anymore.
It was published that he took a massive pay cut.
The only reason he is on the veterans is because (IMO) they back ended it knowing he'd be able to put on the veterans list this year, and Roo next year.

Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
Frankly - id only be re-signing NDS and BJ on big money out of all those guys. Most of them are passed it.
And yeah Gram got a big contract after 09 that finishes this year?
So after this year we will have a huge amount free in our TPP.

Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
Anyone know why Kosi's eligible for the veterans list and not Roo? Both started the same year and there's only a month difference in age. Unless the age cut-off is end of September, but I find that hard to believe.

afl.com.au
"In order to be eligible for classification as a Veteran a player must have been the age of 30 as at September 30 in the relevant AFL season and be on the primary list of the AFL club for at least 10 years"

Rooy will and must be re signed and he will still get very good money as he should. Con you do realise they havent played a game this year. He may win the B&F.

If Riewoldt would to re-sign end of the year what would you value him at?

Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
$20.000 PER GOAL
But minus $20.000 for every miss from inside 40.
My guess he would be playing for free and funding a couple of 1st year players!

Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!

Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
One can only assume the club has a payroll that is commensurate with a team that has delivered sustained success AND also a flag or two. One way of looking at is that we will be paying for our GF appearances for some time to come. Collingwood of 2002 and 2003 anyone?
Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
Wouldn't be the first bloke to have a big year in his last year of a contract, but couldn't see being in the top five again. Assuming that is correct.Ralphy wrote:Agree, wouldnt have gram on huge money any more.Con Gorozidis wrote:i probably wouldnt re-sign either unless on huge cuts.Old Mate wrote:Gram big contract finishes next year. Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
Reiwoldt would be/will be getting a fair chunk of the marketing allowance so its hard to say. But i'd say he'd still be getting 400k.noob wrote:If Riewoldt would to re-sign end of the year what would you value him at?

Gram can go play in the traffic but Roo? Roo has done everything possible with his talent and probably will continue to do so.Con Gorozidis wrote:i probably wouldnt re-sign either unless on huge cuts.Old Mate wrote:Gram big contract finishes next year. Same with Roo.
He has won us countless games and probably will continue to do so.
He is only 29 and last year certainly seemed like the definition of hell.

Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
Whoever drew up Gram's contract should be hung, drawn, and quartered - money down the Drain.
The club tried to offload him last year, but the interested clubs were staggered when they found out what his contract was worth - getting paid more than Jimmy Bartel, Joel Corey, Chapman, etc.
I'm gobsmacked that his contract runs out next year,(if that's true). That puts us in a very difficult position. Should be on the same kind of money as Farren Ray, who's getting about one third of Gram's money. Try telling me that Gram's output has been better than Ray's over the past couple of years!

Re: Top Ten Paid Players at the club
Very sad if Gram is in the top ten considering he won't be playing much this year. He was tres ordinaire at Sandy this week.
Personally I reckon Lou Gramm could do a better job.
