Scoring end is too the north 7 byport first qu, 10 to sandy second,
Sandy in front at half time,
Port supporters are feral, and most also barrack for pies,
But facts remain port got more freez than sandy in first qu

Re: Sandringham vs Port Melbourne Sat 17th
Winmar, Markworth, Wilkes (when he went forward), Shenton, Ross, Minchington were some of the best. Good on the boys for turning the game around. They looked gone for all money in the first quarter.

24.8.152!!...
It's been a while since a score like that has been St.Kilda related, no matter the level of competition...

Interesting about Wilkes.Anyone know how many he kicked? Good to see Shenton amongst it. That boy has something about him.sainters4eva wrote:Winmar, Markworth, Wilkes (when he went forward), Shenton, Ross, Minchington were some of the best. Good on the boys for turning the game around. To make it even better, Sandy were down 17 points at three quarter time, and came back to score 9 goals 3 in the last quarter

Re: Sandringham vs Port Melbourne Sat 17th
Wilkes just seemed more comfortable forward. Ran well and provided a target. Markworth, Dunnell and Shenton all had a maturity about them probably because they are that little bit older. They worked well as a forward group. Maybe we are seeing our forward set up of the future. Ross also. It's a pity we didn't list Lourey, he can play as well and has a strong body.

Anyone able to report?
Squizzy does great reports on pretty much every Sandy game.
Looks like we might have a good one on the rookie list in Minchington ("Mini"), who also kicked a bag of goals last week.
Pity about Gram possibly having a sort tissue injury.

Re: Sandringham vs Port Melbourne Sat 17th
Michington and Newnes are the forgotten recruits, both are a little slight and good stable players with out flash so over looked a little for the showier types but both came very highly rated from their junior days. Possibly the Montagna type who comes in unnoticed and makes a big impact.

Re: Sandringham vs Port Melbourne Sat 17th
I see Minchington has only just turned 18, so it's a good start for someone that young.

Re: Sandringham vs Port Melbourne Sat 17th
some observations;
after I'd settled down after taking on the loud and obnoxious supporters behind me-- much quieter in last quarter- but then started picking on their team-- so left for a sunny spot- Only to have an equally loud person at that end-----
oh well
last laugh the Zebs won both games and apart from Grammy's injury- he's hard to pick ut without the Blonde tips, it appeared that everyone got through unscathed
not playing - in stands were Archer, Curren and Ferguson,
also in attendance- Pelchen, Watters, Ryan, Sexton, and of course Hudson,
seemed a good crowd for a Practice match.
MY humble observations-
Sandy Development squad- Lever, Staley and Webster playing
Lever not as skinny as his photos would indicate and took the game on a couple of times,
Unsure which as both similiar height and I was opposite side BUT either Staley or Webster has a great vertical leap and took in a couple of nice marks- contested.- they both worked hard around the ground.
Sandy Seniors
with the first quarter beginning to look like last night's game I was reassured by some who were there last week that you only need 2 quarters Kicking to the Northern /city end, Sandy kicked 10 goals in 2nd and 9 goals in last to that end.
watching the ball come the other way it would travel some distance but then drop suddenly when the wind got it.
Wilkes solid in Forward line, Minchington ( I wondered who squizzy was gcalling Mini) was lively as said above,
Markworth has already been noted from previous Practice matches and continued to be in the play all day, shows composure as does Ross.
Andreoli has put on some muscle and good to see Crocker and Winmar getting consistent game time- although both still slight they kept presenting,
Ray and Polo's AFL experience showd although they didn't dominate,
there were often packs forming and clear possession appeared difficult, with lots of head ducking by both sides-
Cam Shenton not afraid to use his solid body and tackle hard.
still learning to pick some of the new guys- IE Dunnell and Newnes, But did see both get hands to ball and good kicks to advantage-
all in all a nice day for footy and just nice to see a full game live for the first time all year.
Sandy's First round is next Sunday vs Box Hill Hawks.
Saints team completed recovery at Moorabbin this morning and weights and fitness for those who didn't play at any level this week.

tallish- and even wandering around the ground during the next games I'd have to get to know them better to pick which is which- and for someone whi is nearer Scott's height they are tall.
Lever was easier he has black hair and differant body shape.
I only watched 2 quarters and first time I'd seen them play, are my excuses
