Re: saints preview H-S= poster query?
Bratty,
for us non Vic based Saints supporters who don't have access to the subscription only Herald Sun would you be able to provide a summary of the Saint's preview?
I'd rather use the 2 month free trial once the season starts.
Thanks a million in advance

I am still hurting from 71;
my gut churns thinking of 97;
2009 was agony,
2010a was a pleasure to watch only to be devastated by 2010 b.
It hurts barracking for the Saints

Re: saints preview H-S= poster query?
I got the Saints poster from the HS and could probably get a few more as we get a few papers delivered to work, so if anyone wants them I can send them to you in the mail if you like. Let me know especially the interstaters.

Re: saints preview H-S= poster query?
So, some interesting observations from the poster, for those that are into the heights and so on:
Arryn Siposs looks taller than I was expecting. He's standing next to Raph Clarke and looks noticeably taller than him, about an inch, at both the shoulders and top of the head. Raph is listed at 188cm and Siposs at 189, but Siposs looks taller than that. In fact he looks to be an almost identical height to Beau Wilkes (listed at 194cm), who is on the other side of the top step, with just a couple of others in between. Unless there are some strange slopes on that step, Siposs looks to be closer to probably 192cm than 189. Going by the others around him and what they are listed at, I'm not sure Wilkes is quite 194cm, though. Sam Dunnell (next to him) is listed at 190cm and looks slightly taller than Beau. They actually have some horizontal lines going across the picture at that point, and if you follow them across, Siposs is actually an inch or so taller across the top of the shoulders than Wilkes.
Jason Gram also looks noticeably taller than Farren Ray, which I was surprised to see, standing next to each other. (Ray is listed at 187, Gram at 186). Grammy is clearly taller at both the shoulders and top of the head, so it may be that Faz isn't quite as tall as he's listed at, unless Grammy is closer to 190cm.
Jackson Ferguson is standing next to Sam Gilbert (both listed at 194cm) but Fergo is clearly taller, by at least an inch (and looks at least as solidly built already, which is a good sign). I have a feeling Gilbo is not quite as tall as they have him listed at, as he looks pretty much the same height as Blake, who's next to him on the other side. Either that, or Fergo is pushing 196cm, which would be pretty handy if he develops as we hope he will.
That's all I have to say about that.

Re: saints preview H-S= poster query?
To AnythingsPossibleSaints, thank you for your player height observations.
(The taller you think they may be the higher your hopes rise!)
I just wish the measurements the club publishes would be accurate and up-to-date.
I hate seeing the heights and weights the players first started at just being republished year after year, with no allowance for their growth spirts / gym work / steroid use, etc.
I think Beau Wilkes looks smaller than the monster-minder we were expecting to have picked up.
I think Gram actually is looking taller than he was a while ago. (I've no explanation for that!)
I think Siposs does look taller than 189 -- and I'm sure hoping he is. Just needs a pair of stronger arms now.
I hope Jackson Ferguson keeps growing in both size and skill.
But are you sure they're all wearing the same size cleats on their boots in this poster?

Re: saints preview H-S= poster query?
Yes, before they took the pic I went around and had a look at them all, just to make sure.
I was actually wondering whether there would be anything like that that would make a difference.
And I agree. I don't think it would be too much to ask for them to take 10 mins and measure and weigh everyone once a year so that they have more accurate stats for us.

Thanks a million in advance
the info boxes- be nice if they got it correct but
Arrivals 8 players names do not include rookies
Departures- 11 players named including Rookies
New numbers on players 9 players named
In the box- In - 6 of the coaching staff named Out - 4 coaching staff named
Then they have a heading "2012 at a glance "
which includes 23 played, 12 won, 1 drawn, 10 lost and finished 7th- (so crystal ball there for you )
scores, all australians, Trevor barker award, Goalkickers and who played every game------( if your interested in placing a wager )
for the fans-
Membership info including tally to March 2nd- they have us only 4,000 down on same date last year.
Key dates are correct- family day sunday- Seasons Launch Wednesday and First game April 1st
Robbo does a top 22 - Includes Jimmy whilst admitting he wont play rd 1 but should by end of season, only other new name in starting 18 is Beau wilkes, stating by end of year Must be different.- with 2 newer names as part of interchange and 2 newer names as part of 3 emergencies.- although ( who Knows)
Pass amrk- he doesn;t really give one,' anyone's guess' is his comment,
smallbox on "Saint's First six"- Could be 5-0 ( ????????)
