Said Round 1 of nab cup is Mickey mouse stuff. Should get a 10K fine for such blasphemy!

Otherwise said not much other than spin. Comfortable that Lyon left. Trained in the USA whilst there for 5.5 weeks.

Pretty mcu dismissed the Perth effort by the guys.

Wants a knock out nab cup next year.

Sipposs Cripps Ledger stand out young players to watch for.

Thinks his knee will hold up. Not expecting to dominate as a key fwd like previous years due to change in game. Wants 3 or 4 50 goal players not him Kicking 80 as a lone hand.

Agree. Those three names roll off everyone's tongues without thinking. Good sign!

Hope so but they have played a combined 11 games so it's a little early to call.

Add Crocker and Curren in years to come. I honestly believe we will have 5 regulars from that draft.

Its sad to think we couldn't win it all with rooey in his prime (09 -10) and that we now talk about him like his finished.

If he gets back to somewhere near his best output on a consistant basis this year we win it all or go mighty close.

I certainly don't think he's finished; just that he can't do it all himself ... never will be able to and never could, even in 2009-2010.

From what ive seen so far this year (Granted its not too big of a sample) he wont be doing it alone.I just feel the current game plan of moving the ball quickly should suit roo to a tea.If he kicks his 2 goals a game, chuck in milney, schneider, dal, kosi, saad, montagna etc i feel like there are enough goals their to make us a big scoring side.

As above. Also, with regard to the game at the weekend, he said we "didn't play anywhere near as well as we wanted to", which is what I suspected and said on the match thread, only to have many jump down my throat.

Was also interesting to hear Bomber Thompson say emphatically on AFL 360 tonight that Richmond's win over Geelong on the weekend would have been "enormous" for Richmond and that they would get a lot of confidence from it.
I guess he also doesn't know as much about these things as all those on here who keep saying pre-season games mean "nothing", or that there's "nothing to gain" from them.

.in context

.nick had just said ... for him (as a chf) the last three years had been the biggest change in how footy was played
.everywhere he runs is the next opposition dudes zone

Talked about toughness .... team .... at the ball , with the ball
... thatz this yearz mantra if i read it right.

....then said ... we have some work to do. :)

Gerard also said on 360 that Port beat Geelong by 80 points in a 2011 preseason game. A slow start is not always bad as long as we build momentum leading into the real stuff !

Gerard has the Saints out of the eight this year.

Reckons going off the WCE game they have a broken spirit.

Not about to slam him, everyone is entitiled to an opinion, but it was a strange segment flip flopping over if the preseason comp means anything at all. I guess in his opinion it does.

No, I think Bomber is right.

I think that sort of win can do wonders for teams that are on the rise.

By the same token, I don't think the losses necessarily destroy teams that have already been playing regular finals footy.

Suppose we'll just have to wait and see 8-)

He's actually a St Kilda supporter..maybe he's trying to fire the boys up.

In 2008 we won the NAB Cup..How did we go in the first half of the year?

Last year we emulcified Geelong in the second round of the NAB Cup..how did we go after that? How did the Cats go?

One thing in our favour is that so far we do not have many injuries. Team should be able to pick up Scott's game plan pretty quickly, compared to say St Kilda in 2007 or even maybe Melbourne this year. I don't think that it will take as long as it did under Lyon to adapt becuase we are a very well drilled team and the change will not be as great.

On the negative side, we are old and slow and we have been up for a while. Also, we are pinning our hopes on some young guys who look promising but don't have any experience at all.

Isn't Gerard a Swans supporter considering he played out his career with them?

Agree with your last statement. Funny how he didn't say too much about the other teams that were flogged. The Blues have had a horrible NAB cup and IMO they will make the 8 easily and be challenging for a GF.
