6 day turnaround and round 8
Essendon couldnt make a three hour bus trip and chose to fly because they have a 6-day turnaround before the next game against Sydney. This is only the NAB Cup which doesnt matter. In round 8 of the real season we play West Coast then have a three and a half hour flight back to Melbourne before a 6-day turnaround before playing Sydney. Surely if the AFL feels a 3 hour bus trip is too difficult before a 6 day break then they cannot expect the Saints to take a 3 and a half hour flight before a 6 day break. Let them keep the draw for this game but recompense us the 2 points if we lose either the round 8 or 9 game due to the incredible difficulty of the travel time when there is only 6 days to recover. After all, fair is fair.

Re: 6 day turnaround and round 8
Round 9 to Sydney, after a trip to WA the week before (a 6 day break), is a really big ask of the players. Bad fixturing by the AFl again!
Then 6 days to Richmond at home, followed by 8 to Gold Coast and another 6 days to Adelaide. Luckilly, a bye the following week, or they would all be dead from travel weariness !
It seems that the Club doesn't have any say in the fixturing. I wonder whether other teams are so badly impacted during the year?

I think "6day breaks" are a bit like RSI and some other recently coined phrases.
Not saying they're not genuine but become a bigger problem when identified and given a name.
After all how many days break do concreters, truck drivers and others in physically taxing occupations get?

Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!
