No, annoyed that Essendon can't get their sh*t together in order to arrive for the match and then being rewarded with a draw.

C'mon, surely you can see something wrong with this picture?

I dont know the rule and secondly some morons were abusing us for not doing the same thing as Essendon. Couldnt give a stuff about the points. Care very much about the practice though and the poor people at the game.

Commiserations to the people of Wangaratta -- all the kids, and the organisers, etc. It's really disappointing for them that it didn't work out.

Good on the Saints for at least putting on a bit of a practice match.

Bad on Essendon for taking the fancy option with the planes, and then not showing up.
Bad on the AFL for declaring it a draw. Saints are penalised -- our nab cup situation should at least be no worse off now than it was before, but it is.

i mean it doesnt matter but its probably not a forfeit. essendon made reasonable attempts to make the ground and were denied but unuusal and extreme weather conditions. mind you - they had 5 days warning/forecasts that would be the case. i blame the charter company who should have told the bummers it would probably not be possible to land.

They're ripping into each other at Bomber Blitz, blaming Ess FC and everyone else, and going quite feral.
I'm glad we don't go feral on this site.

why is that strange?

the games off so we're not going to play... no one will get injured
the only thing in question is the points - nothing can be done about the game

how could u possibly think that's strange?

sure you're not just be antagonizing for the sake of it? Least you can look into mirror and know ur a good person

I bet if that was a home and away game that would not be a draw. They are hardly able to claim they couldn't foresee it.

So the plane had no parachutes? He he he.

Oh well, at least we're not going to come out of this looking "wet".

I wonder if the afl would have declared a draw if we were the team that didn't show up???

Or would they have come to the same decision if the were playing the filth?

must admit my first thoughts were about missing out on the all important practice match, and the folks.
but reading the comments, why should we miss out on the chance to appear in the final? how serious do they want us to take this competition?
I don't blame the essendon fans for going feral. two jets? doing their bit for global warming.

See, I dont think they made every attempt to get there. They would have had the ability to fly 10 minutes north to Albury, where they could have landed then bussed it down the road. Absolutely piss poor by the Bombers and the AFL.

I had same thoughts - Albury aint that far....surely they couldve diverted?

I understand the 3 attempts aviation rule....but they had the juice to fly back to Melb......but couldnt radio Albury to see if conditions there were suitable to land?

Weak.

Why do the EFC get a frigging draw for not showing up?

It doesn't matter but it just shows once again the joke that the AFL rules are.

FFS we drew a game for competition point and had the result changed.

Essendon aren't even professional enough to turn up, but they get a draw.

And P66 its the principle of the decision. Shows teams like Essendon can be completely incompetent, let down 15,000 regional people who hardly erer get AFl teams playing locally, not show up, and then get rewarded.

Ridiculous.

Just ignore Tugger66 and his stupidity.

Read the article about it on afl.com.au

The AFL allowed Essendon to fly and back on the day, and ticked it off this morning!

Are they friggin idiots or what at AFL house?

The flight left Melbourne at 2pm.

Forecast was not promosing for the afternoon.

If the idiots at AFL house had half a brain cell between them they would've forced Essendon to fly out earlier to try and avoid weather issues.

It aint faarking rocket science flying into rural airports on light aircraft!

Remember we aint talking 737's in and out of capital cities!

So they tried to land at Albury but no luck there also, so flew home.

Total wank and the AFL MUST compensate us in some way IMO.

I've been out of the country too long. When did they extend the tram line to Wangaratta?

They took off without ever bothering to check ahead that they could land at Wangaratta or their alternate at Albury.
Lucky they didn't run out of fuel and crash.

Bombers are ding wings.

Are you fair dinkum? One team is there ready to play, the other team doesn't show they forfeit end of story.

You blame the charter company. Obviously you have a lot of knowledge about air charter operations.

It's pretty b & w. You are either there to play or you are not. We turned up but they failed to make it. The game should be ours..

I hate the AFL. They are a joke and they make up the rules as they go along.
