Re: match in doubt. bombers couldn't land
So they can fly up, up, but not down?
They will not grow old, as those from more northern States grow old.
For them it will always be three-quarter-time, with the scores level
and the wind advantage in the final term.

Well it's crystal clear in my mind If you can't get yourselves to the ground you get no points.

What a farcical situation. How embarrassing for the AFL and sad for the 15,000 people who bought tickets.
All because the Bombers thought a bus trip would effect their recovery time

Bounce the ball at normal time.
Can't get there is their problem.
Has to be a way for us to beat them!

Considering our recent form against them I still wouldn't put money on a win!whiskers3614 wrote:Bounce the ball at normal time.

Re: match in doubt. bombers couldn't land

Re: match in doubt. bombers couldn't land
If the AFL really don't have any contingency plans, as it was reported they said they didn't, a couple of days ago, that will be very bloody ordinary. It was never going to be about how quickly the ground drained a day or two ago, but just how much rain they were going to get today/tonight.
YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.

Re: match in doubt. bombers couldn't land
How p!ssweak are Essendon?
I mean FFS chartering 2 planes.... Where they going Alice Springs FFS
Feel for the thousands of locals who would've made their way to the ground
Essendon should lose pts for stupidity... Can't anyone check a weather forecast that's been screaming poor conditions for a week...So they still decide they need private jets???
Pompous flogs

Nothing on the AFL website.
So much for up-to-date information and transperency.

Latest from the Border Mail -
"The AFL on Twitter is expected to make an official announcement.
Read how the drama unfolded."
The Essendon football team will be bundled back on their aircraft and flown to Wangaratta, an AFL spokesman said.
He said the match, due to start at 7pm, could be pushed back to 8pm to accommodate a late arrival by the Essendon players.
"We have the capacity to start play up to an hour later ... a decision on whether the match goes ahead will be made by 6.30pm," said AFL spokesman Patrick Keane."

Looks like conditions on board one of the planes were not too pleasant.
Significant "own goal" by Essendon.

Not sure 14 against 14 will do much good. Looks like a few will now go to WA which they werent planning. That will be good for you at least.

"Essendon had opted to charter the planes to head to the north-eastern town today, while St Kilda made a six-hour bus-trip yesterday."
Did we go via the coast?

Re: match in doubt. bombers couldn't land
The draw makes it impossible for us to make the NAB G.F. (not that we had much hope).
Club should protest and claim a forfeit as Essendon could not get their team there, plus having lost both games last week, had no hope of making final.
Well at least we don't have to worry about any injuries from the game.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.
Re: match in doubt. bombers couldn't land
People more worried about the points than missing a game. Very strange.

Re: match in doubt. bombers couldn't land
It is a bloody sham if the Bummers get a draw out of it. They have forfeited the match, it should be 4 points to us.

No, annoyed that Essendon can't get their sh*t together in order to arrive for the match and then being rewarded with a draw.plugger66 wrote:People more worried about the points than missing a game. Very strange.
C'mon, surely you can see something wrong with this picture?
