They can sing songs.
Play "I spy".
Brown-eye other motorists.
Hang their scarves out the windows.
Do the "We wanna wee wanna wee" chant.
Watch a chick flick.
Stop at a roadhouse and eat some nice greasy burgers with chips.
Do some handball drills in the bus.
etc.
Just as long as they don't buy any of those bogany blankets that you wear as a coat like the Richmond guys did on their bus trip last year.

For 2,3,4 hour journeys....bus. Mind you, they are absolutely top buses. Newcastle to Plymouth type journeys, plane. Or Manchester to Portsmouth/ Southampton. Rare though. Aussie cricket team get around by bus, and have done for years. Used to be the train.Con Gorozidis wrote:Buses are cool. The boys can sing songs and eat pies on the way home lke in the old days! Out of interest - does anyone know ahow Premier League teams travel? The reason I ask is they have matches all the time around 3-5 hours away. London to Liverpool, Manchester, Blackburn, Everton etc etc. Do they fly or bus for those games???

The buses they have are like Business Class on a plane. Seriously comfortable with music, videos etc etc. No mini-bar though!Con Gorozidis wrote:Thanks Verdun> I assumed that would be the case. If its good enough for them its good enough for our blokes. I am sure it is a good bus.

Too busy counting their money. Not to mention sending pictures of their genitals to potential mistresses.Con Gorozidis wrote:Do they moon fellow motorists as they head north on the M1?
And seriously....gambling. Well known that some of them gamble unbelievably. Card schools on those buses would have more money than the economy of Greece.

Re: We can't be serious!
premier league guys mostly bus it around the UK
interesting thing here is why did we bus it up there the night before?
better not to sleep in your own bed and bus straight to the game? luxury buses can be comfy-city.
i reckon team building exercise is part of this. it's the way Watters seems to utilise the opportunities.
love the way he handled the press conference 'I'm not interested in their preparation, we're on the bus' (smiles)

Return journey after game would seem bettrr for saints, chance to walk around stop and wander, rather than cramped in small plane straight after wet game

Seriously are we that precious that we can’t take a bus ride for a few hours in Vic?
Maybe a bonding session planned, a few quizzes and stories on the way up?

10 minutes to taxi to the runway, 5 minutes waiting to take off, then being told it's too wet to take off. 30 minutes later all clear to take off. 27 minute flight only to find it's too wet to land, 30 minutes back to Essendon. Too late to take a bus, Saints win as the opposition failed to show.
Absolutely spot on Bernard. I would prefer to drive or catch a train to Sydney than take a plane due to all the hassle just negotiating the entry and departure procedures they have these days - not too mention that fact that airports are always a fair drive into town.

Re: We can't be serious!
What is best for the environment is a whole new can of worms. Not sure what type of plane the Bombers took but I'll assume the plane uses some type of recyprocating piston engine fueled with AVGAS 100 and do a carbon footprint calculation then compare that to the bus option and get back to you...just so we've got all the fact on this debate.skeptic wrote:Sorry Cairnsman,
Cannot believe you think we're the irrational ones on this topic
Catching a plan for the sake of a 3hr bus trip is ridiculous
finacially stupid, poor for the environment, makes them look like primadonnas

The amount of carbon involved in moving the teams around, whether by plane or by bus, would not be enough to affect the life span of an asthmatic ant.

Have you done the footprint calculation for that? Because otherwise you are speaking out of your backside which insidently also has a carbon footprint.Dr Spaceman wrote:The amount of carbon involved in moving the teams around, whether by plane or by bus, would not be enough to affect the life span of an asthmatic ant.

Looks like a Fairchild Metroliner. Very old tecnology and they hand out earplugs when boarding because they are so noisy. I always hate getting seated at 3a or 3b on those things. You are right in line with the props, hate that. Having said that they are a fast aircraft for a turbo prop and will get their nice and quick although I still haven't calculated the carbon footprint yet.Sick Nal Danto wrote:This is an actual image of the inside of the bombers plane

Re: We can't be serious!
Google Maps tells me that Seaford to Essendon Airport would take not much less than an hour (assuming for a second they'd all meet there and go to the airport). Then it's a 27 minute flight. Plus all the mucking about between arriving at the airport and actually leaving, and then getting a bus at the other end. A bus ride starts to look more appealing. Then there's the financial aspect...

This is a funny topic now.
They will not grow old, as those from more northern States grow old.
For them it will always be three-quarter-time, with the scores level
and the wind advantage in the final term.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Seriously, if the difference between one flight to Wangaratta v one bus trip to Wangaratta made one iota of difference then we may as well all give up now.
