Just like we got nothing for Zac, got nothing for Ball, got sqwat for Walsh, got humiliated when Lyon left.

A few things in common
1 they professed loyality to St Kilda
2 the club wanted them to stay
3 the club failed to ensure their contracts were extended ahead of the trade period the previous year
4 they were not happy
5 they walked for sqwat
6 they were part of a club that I love but has only ever won one premiership, WHY?

He seems like a pretty switched-on and genuinely driven character from what footage I've seen and what I've read. And obviously the kid has a lot of talent. Apparently, the knock on him from several clubs at the draft was that he was a tad slow which is disappointing, but from all reports he's look promising so far.

So exactly how does Seb Ross get to Essendon at the end of 2013?

Assuming of course the Bombers haven't won the wooden spoon 8-)

Both Zac and Walsh are hardly examples. They are both fringe (Walsh not even, and we may be better off with the DP we got for him) and replaceable..

At the time, I was glad to see Ball was in the firing line.. Thought he was well past it, and we just made a stubborn mistake not to budge on his value... Still think it was the right move to move him on, just not done correctly...

Roo to the Suns, BJ to Carlton, Dal to the Bombers, were all far more concerning than what you listed above, and will never have happened...

Dont panic too early ace, still plenty of water to go under the bridge..

Just as liekly Jobe will want to leave to play with his cousin at a team that is contending!!... 8-)

The kid hasn't even played a NAB cup game yet and we're losing him to the Bombers? Last I checked the Bombers passed on him in the first round. Why would he go there? Because his cousin plays there? So what? Do we get Jack Reiwoldt out of this?

nah. you may not like him, but he played 63 games of a possible 74 in his time at the saints. missed a couple with suspension and a few with injury. he was a first-choice player for his entire three years at st kilda, not a fringe player.

Zac has to be one of the most overrated players that's recently been on our list amongst SS supporters. Have you heard what neutral's think of him? Hack.

I don't personally know a Saints supporter that wanted Zac ahead of Max in 09. In 10 and 11 he was the whipping boy - Wasn't that his reason for leaving the Saints? New beginning and sick of being the club whipping boy (internally and externally).

If you mean internally within the club which obviously dont then you would be wrong. A very important player as he is in the spine but some people dont know footy well enough to realise that. They worry about what opposition supporters think of our players. Pity some people dont look as his record and especially his finals record.

Hardly overated. If anything underated. I wanted Zac ahead of Max, why?
1) Zac was our FB all year when we won 19 games in a row.
2) Max was getting injured

Zac said he wanted a fresh start because he was the 'whipping boy' at St Kilda. His words not mine. Unsure exactly what he meant (internally or externally).

I don't 'worry' about what opposition supporters think however it certainly backs up the argument that he is overrated when neutral supporters which aren't biased don't rate him. Does that mean they don't know footy? :?

Lets not kid ourselves. Zac was a very poor one-on-one player. He had a good 2009 - since then his output was poor. Often beaten and looked out of position - gave away plenty of free kicks. Was given a bath by average forwards such as Setanta.

Traditionally tall forwards don't impact finals as finals are overly defensive games.

How do you rate Kosi? Or even Rooy. Hear plenty of moronic opposition supporters say Rooy is overated. Means jack. So if Zac plays well in finals it is because tall forwards dont impact them. Maybe it is just because Zac played well. Anyway we have no real logical replacement but it doesnt matter Zac was no good. The problem is no one comes up with stats to prove that apart from a couple of one off games.

Roo cops grief from opposition supporters...But he sure is rated....Usually it's personal attacks ie. crybaby type crap. Kosi is average. A bottom 6 player for us but required in the team until someone else steps up. Opposition fans are fair with his assessment (mostly).

Why don't you come up with stats yourself? You're the one so obsessed with them.

Anyhow, we'll see how he goes without a top notch defensive line to assist him. My guess is he gets bags kicked on him often.

This is what happens in international soccer.
The player either re-signs or is traded with the club getting full trade value for the player.
Those soccer clubs never allow a player to enter the final season of a contract.
The contract is ALWAYS extended first or a trade made.
I suggest you google the phrase "free transfer" and see what comes up.

very few opposition supporters rate milney. does that mean they don't know footy? or just that there are no "neutral supporters which aren't biased".

I dont know how you blokes can compare roo and milne with zac in regards to outside perception especially roo. Of course there are those that are just blind. If you asked (most) fans honestly do you think they will say roo and milne are hacks? Zac they will.

Not sure I am comparing any of them. Just pointing out that it is crap worrying about what opposition supporters think of our players.

Why is Dawson a whiping boy at Freo after 1 intraclub match? Did he get flogged?
