Didn't know Tony needed somebody to tie his bootlaces!
If so the selection process needs to be open and transparent.

Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!

Roo nearly won us gf one with his ripper pack contested mark at halb back and followed through with a very quick and smart kick which Lenny got a hold of and we drew level with that bounce.

Hopefully a marked improvement on last year-I know there were excuses BUT he was truly woeful.
He was still top ten. He was injured. He may never be again what he was. We all knew that when he did his knee.

But before that he had 5 B&Fs and taken us to three grand finals and so many finals.

Gun. He doesn't have to do anything more to be in our very top ever at the Saints.
And how did he take us to three grand finals? Granted I'll give you 2009 where him and Raph Clarke carried us across the line in the prelim. Then he wasn't sited the week after
In 2010 we got in easily, then he had a just ok GF1...one would say if he played well in GF1 there would of been no GF2....then GF2,he was disgraceful again.
Has played some good-excellent finals games, but been missing in just as many,if not more

Again where him and Loewe are very comparable. Stewie was either best on ground,or not cited in his finals appearances. Comes with the position I guess

Absolutely no contest whatsoever. Lockett was a better player than Riewoldt, HANDS DOWN. Roo and Loewe are comparable. Some people on here say Roo is an out-and-out champion, a matchwinner, etc, but compared to Lockett, he isn't. Lockett could single-handedly break open games. Roo is a champ, but he cant bust open opposition defences the way plugger could.

One Tony Lockett. There's only one tony Lockett.

No Full-forward in history is comparable to Lockett. Maaaaybe, like, John Coleman, or Gordon Coventry, but even they are clearly second best in comparison to him.

With Riewoldt, however, there are clearly better CHF's than him in the history of the game. Carey, Brereton, for example.

I love Rooey and he's a truly a "champion," but from some posts on here I think he is overrated by some.

The big difference was that when he got it you could just about write it down, particularly if the match was in the balance.

Roo is the best in the past decade which is probably our most successful decade except we have not won a grand final.

IMO Roo has won more games for Saints than any other player pulling on the Saints jumper.

He has not played great in grand finals but I have always thought he has been injured when it counted and had two opposition on him.

I dont blame him for him for that although I suspect you do.

Seriously? Go back and watch the 3rd quarter of the Prelim v Bulldogs. Roo was the reason we won so easily.

Reckon Loewe would of hated to play CHF the last couple of years, having to be up and down the ground, saints footy style.

Is it only really Nicks athleticism that allowed him to play this super hard role as well as he did?

Not sure many would of been able to suceed playing that 'role' to be honest.

I think not.

I think Loewe would have played closer to goal

Roo should have never played in the Geelong GF if he was that injured.

I havnt read every post. But I am amused at people saying Stewies kicking improved. His last two season nearly drove me to dispair. Missed heaps.

Would of been many players who have played with slight injuries.

Yep better than Harvey. Harvey didn't win too many games of his own boot.

Neither has Riewoldt.

From memory, Harvey won the '05 qaulifying final off his own boot.

Also he won two brownlows.

Yeah, I was at that game and if I remember correctly Reiwoldt kicked two goals as did Jimmy Gwilt. Harvey kicked three.

Also Reiwoldt has won five Trevor Barker Medals.

I believe shaggy was talking about the last decade 2002-2011 and Harves didn't win any Brownlow medals in that time.

A better comparison may well be Lenny Hayes in that time frame.
