Foot Skills
With recent recruiting, One thing that is obvious is that we have recruited guys who can kick, Pelchen and more importantly watters both rate it very highly
So I'd go through our list (only player who have played 15 + games) and rate their foot skills. This might make it easier to decide on the best 22
Elite : Dal Santo, Goddard, Gwilt, Montagna
Very Good: Hayes, Milne, Schneider, Koschitzke,
Ok: Riewoldt, Blake, Fisher, Gram, Ray, McEvoy, Armitage, Steven
Poor : Dempster, Peake, Gilbert, Jones, Clarke, Polo, Geary
No coincidence that the most maligned player, are the ones who have poor foot skills
I think in order to improve, we need better foot skills as a whole
How do you rate our skills by foot ?

Demster - OK
Gram - Poor
As much as I love Lenny his kicking in general is IMO OK not "very good"
Monty - good not elite (he misses heaps of shots on goal)
Steven will have to improve to be OK
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Not sure that statement is correct.....Ross played him as a forward a few times and he couldn't get the ball to go through the big sticks, however many shots he had.....Definitely a backman/taggerSiposstar#2 wrote:Dempster???
I love to have him on a flank having shots from 60, nails them everytime!
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

I have seen many dropped marks from him and kicks that go along the ground. He is poor.skeptic wrote:Clarke is an interesting one...
His football skills are very good but his decision making ain't great resulting in some poor kicking at times

Yes certain players. But a player like Jason gram who is just a dodgy kick should kick ALOT better. Also ive seen players at training under no pressure miss targets alot of times.plugger66 wrote:It obviously is or they could all do it. The pressure of the game on some players obviously effects their skills.clarky449 wrote:Dont see how players cant hit a target anyways. It isint hard to drop the ball and kick a drop punt on to a chest!

I'd definitely remove Schneider from "very good" and place him in "elite." His kicking, both for goal and to team mates, is nothing short of immaculate. He kicks to where a player is going, not to where they are. Not just his kicking, either. His hand-passing is the same.

Agreed. Would put him in the OK-Good category. I'd drop Lenny from Very Good to OK-Good too !!skeptic wrote:Clarke is an interesting one...

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Agree on his goal kicking, especially for set shots in the 35 to 50 range - very reliable. Last time I went to the footy with my wife he kicked about 3 in that range. She asked me "Who is that little guy that isn't Milney?" I said "Schneider, he's about 40 out so this is a goal". And backed it up twice more.hungry for a premiership wrote:I'd definitely remove Schneider from "very good" and place him in "elite."
