me thinks it only took 1 game for us to realise that he's not the consumite (spelling) team player that's willing to play the role the team needs him to play.

Otherwise, 1 game is hardly enough to tell

Yep and while he is doing that his man has kicked 5 and set up 5. I may have no idea but I an bet you Kosi doesnt play CHB next year. He is slower than treacle. The article also says Milne may play on the ball. It was cold down at Mornington and that can effect brain cells. Obviously did yesterday. It is so funny that people want about 10 changes to the side in either position or players and then they expect they will be better. 2 to 3 changes is all we need plus we also need our stars to be our stars because that will decide how our season goes not Milney playing in the middle or Wilkes playing at CHF.

No point. He only averages 2 possessions a game unless he plays on Kosi.

We'll see.

Heard many a time people pronounce 'he can't play there' and 'he isn't up to scratch' over the journey about heaps of different players...

I like when people are wrong :)

He didn't say he will be a key defender, just that he will spend some time there.

I just wanna see guys shine now, no more 'he plays his role' business, let guys flourish and be good at what they do....it is ok to be good at what you do afterall.
So who do you think that he could match up on? Buddy? Cousin Jack? Cloke? Dawes?

... time for my 2.5 cents worth
The kosi debate mirrors the visionary verses pencil pushers paradigm , imo.

Kos does not flower playing 2nd fiddle.
Give him responsibility and room to be an 'important (focal) part' ane he'll shine.

Let kosi be the man.
... and let it be known , that kos is the man.

Watters 'holistic' aporoach is version2 of rocketrods attempt ... and , imhfoooc , correct.

With teams employing fwd/ruckman....it could be the case (at times)....I cannot see him picking up a Key fwd due to limited mobility/agility...

But
Dean Cox, David Hale, Hamish McIntosh, Robert Warnock, Dean Jolly, David Hille, Aaron Sandilands, Trent West, Mark Jamar....all went fwd in 2011 and they could moster Blake (who is also slow) or Wilkes or whoever

so its not that much of a stretch

Settle Pettles!

This is just a "non-negative" PR story out of nothing from Watters.

We all know that Kosi can only play ruck or full forward, it aint rocket science to understand the big blokes limitations.

I cannot see even his best pre season ever dramatically changing things for Kos.

So how does that work. Kosi is obviously either playing in the ruck or in the forward line and then a ruckman goes down forward for the opposition so we regig both our forward and backline to put Kosi back there. Surely we try and work with what we have instead of changing both setups. Lets face it if our mids are on top it wont matter who they have ibn the forward line and if there mids are on top it wont matter who we have in our backline. Kosi is only a ruckman/ follower or a forward these days and has been like that for many years now.

i reckon it is worth a shot.

a new challenge could freshen up his mind a little and it's not like he hasn't played down back before.

he's looking light enough, maybe improved his take off speed recently.

keep the opposition on their toes - switching with Wilkes who can kick 'em.

It's time for Kosi to perform. He won't do that on the backline in today's fast-flowing footy.

Mainly playing forward, with some back-up time for Macca and falling back on occasions to put talls into the backline.

I like his lighter frame this year - a bit more mobility.

It's a good sign that kosi is getting fit, I think a few want to show their wares for the new coaches. Saw Farren ray the other day and he looked really fit and ready to roll. The days of letting it slip in the off season are gone.

I hope kos gets a good injury free run of it and shows every one why he is internally rated so highly.

The team so far hasn't been good enough...if the team stays relatively the same then the results won't differ......

I trust Watter's to make the necessary evolution....

Zac out..? in is the first one

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Pretty sad to see an elite sportsman going for a training swim equipped with facemask, snorkel and flippers.

Sounds like BJ can't swim either.

Footballers aren't paid to be good swimmers.

Have to agree. Have no idea why a footballer has to be able to swin 1,2kn in the bay without some protection. What I would find sad is one of them drowning trying to be a hero when they arent actually good swimmers.

Flippers are kosi's secret training regime , runs in them everyday , does yoga and plays carpet bowls in them.
It's all about curing his tendancy to trip over his own size 20's , running into things , bqnging his knees together and improved spatial awareness.
Came to Watters in a dream , and being the new age dogma free intuitive instructed carer of souls , that he is ... he went ... Why not ?

I love the idea.
Beside future collectibles , the wider boot being developed from this wisdom will improve goal kicking accuracy.

If they could swim they wouldn't be going into the bay. I would certainly take up the equipment option if I were going into the bay at this time of year.

So you're happy to pot the bloke even when he's just going for a swim?

At least you're consistent

A genuine utility in 2012 perhaps?
Play a lot in defense? = no as Kosi is too slow, and is not agile enough.

To drift back on occasion....or a on a resting ruck = yes.

Anything more = no.

Regular CHB = no

Saying that Kosi will play in defense is a bit like saying Lenny will play ruck. Sure on rare occasion Lenny will leap up and contest or even win a hit out...but he is as much a ruckman as Kosi is a true defender.

I didn't say CHB, or as a key defender, or even alot....

Just let him play footy, where required, rather than be a human battering ram.

Thanks

He has played where required for 10 years. Nothing will change next year. He will be required in the ruck and up forward.

The year when he got 11 brownlow votes in four consecetive games, where was he playing? Pretty sure it was'nt full forward. Would have been on the ball or CHF.

Pretty sure that was before you were born. Irrelevant now just like when people mention he played CHB when he won the rising star.
