Sundberg from the pies reserves is meant to be a gun. Dobosz is meant to be a good prospect, Manson looks exciting, we seem to have lots to pick from.

What about Jackson Ferguson and Jay Lever? Surely they fit that bill perfectly? Add to that the fact Sam Gilbert has only just turned 25 and I reckon that would be one the last things we need now. A 10 year prospect for full-back would be more of a requirement, I'd suggest.

I've given up trying to predict who they will take

Anyway surely the guys invited to do pre-season would be some chance:
Dowler, Magner, Marigliani, then Ben Casley, James Hallahan, Danny Hughes, Michael Lourey.

Of the players not drafted, I wouldn't mind any of: Waldhuter, Kyal Horsley, Sam Frost, Bolger (ruck), Jason Salecic, Kyle Hartigan, Darrou, Lee Spurr, Tom Sundberg, Jai Sheahan, Mark Hutchings and David Gourdis.....

With the upcoming rookie selections I think we may go for a couple of big body/older types.

Magner and Marigliani would seem to fit this description, and by all reports they have been putting in hard at training.

Can someone who's seen them play give me a summary of the pros/cons of these two?

I'd like us to pick up Magner and Marigliani

Magner - Too slow...is a shorter, slower version of Armitage with average-solid skill level......Tough as F*** and a clearance beast....but would not spread....actually Ball would be a better compaison...Very consistent output
Similar size to Nathan Jones of Melbourne...a ball of muscle

Rigs....also pretty tough, biggish body and has more skill and speed - actually he is quite powerful. Can hit the scoreboard. He was injured for nearly all of last year, he can seriously play. But does not perform as consistently as Magner..
More of a similar size to Armo...

Both VFL stars.....I would think there are better younger options to develop....
I would have Marigliani over Polo though

i reckon they're less likely to get picked up if they were invited to do preseason with the club. presumably they didn't invite wilkes specifically so that no-one else would get a sniff of him. same with stephenson at the cats and dickson at the dogs. wouldn't the same apply to the rest?

What about Nathan Ablett ?
He nominated for the draft. So i guess he wants a chance.
Is he worth a go as a mature age rookie?
Any thoughts.

Think that one's adequately covered here:

I hope we pick up a ruckman as a priority. I expect Bolger to go before our first pick, although he did'nt in the draft. Ben Brown or Currie from Sydney, who would be ready to go now. Then Marley Williams or whoever is the best mid left. After that another tall, maybe Jackson Coleman who is training with us. And with our last pick, take one of the N.T. players that GWS did not take as Zone, such as Lou Egger, or Kelvin Williams or Gibson Turner.

I think with the new Academy the focus will be on getting youth on the rookie list as opposed to the mature age recruits.

However, with 7 or 8 spots available, there is room for 2 mature agers essentially as backup to current squad.

With that known we probably have 2 areas where we really lack experienced back-up, the KP and ruck.

I dont know enough about the names to have any comment on them, but would like to see at least one KP or ruck taken that has AFL experience or is mature aged.

The rest on the spots should be developmental.

Yep you may be right - they may have someone in mind that's been kept totally under the radar, by not training.

I think Watters said (referring to the new guys training) that there was no charity and all were in with some chance (of being drafted)......Otherwise might be a waste of time having them there.

From some guy on Bigfooty - re: Ross Tungatulum

Some will remember the name as the former St Kilda rookie, and since his delisting he has gone back to the NT and has improved out of sight. Really matured too. Excellent forward crumber and strong defensively, Ross would be ready to play from Round 1. Don't think any team would have problems keeping him either.

Bring back Choo Choo!!!!

I watched a game at Sandy that Ross played in and I was not surprised he was delisted and returned to NT. But good luck to him if he has improved his footy out of sight!

Was there on the outer wing as a youngster flying the flag in '66 - still loyal, still passionate!

Marley Williams
Some site had this guy as pick 26 in their phantom draft .. (going to Richmond).

We need a quick, medium sized forward that's ready to play and he could fit the bill -

Still a couple of cms short of ideal height probably .. at 181 cms ... but he's quick, evasive, fierce, strong and has a long left foot kick.

According to the site -

Height: 181cm, Weight: 85kg, DOB: 22/07/1993
Recruited from: Claremont Football Club

The Tigers need a skilful half-forward/wingman. Williams fills this hole and he is another one of my favourites from the draft. Williams has a lethal left foot roost, is big bodied, is extremely quick and has a bit of the ‘Jake Kings’ about him. He’s definitely ready to play a role up forward in round one and he could have a serious impact. The thing I love about him is that he is fierce and takes no crap. He is ultra competitive and I think this is a trait Damien Hardwick would love. Don’t be surprised if the Tigers go for Marley on Thursday.

Our ruck stocks with Kosi, Big Mac and others like Stanley could be better as far as tap ruckman go - but we are okay I reckon.

The rucks in the 2012 GF were a non factor and just negated each other - it was the forwards that did the damage.

With this in mind and the fact that our forward line is too predictable and our weak link - we need a goal kicking half forward flanker/ medium forward that is ready to make an impact in 2012.

This is what we lack !!!!

Marley Williams could be that guy - he's been described as fierce and competitive,

We need forward 50 pressure (chasing and tackling)... this guy is quick and competitive, medium sized, strong and kicks goals !!!

Siposs , Markworth, Milera might need to build up their bodies. ?

Saad is about Milne's size... Williams is a couple of inches taller and a bit heavier and is ready to impact (if he makes it of course - but he does look likely..

Does anyone know whether either of the Frosts on the list is a son of former Saint Michael Frost who came to us from the Dogs?
