Jay Lever

Post: # 1177671Post saintDal »

Represented Vic Country at the NAB AFL U18 Championships, playing in all five games and averaging 10 hit-outs.

Got a quote on him here from Bigfooty

Another option for CHB, with one of our later picks, is Jay Lever, who apparently has incredible athleticism, at 200cm and "elite ball use with both sides of his body" and considers his preferred position to be CHB (after being played forward, back, wing and in the ruck, this year). Early in the year he was apparently going great guns and expected to go early in the draft, but was then played in the ruck in the championships and didn't do well, and lost confidence from it, so has apparently slipped way down the draft order. It appears he does well in the other positions, so if we got him for one of those roles and not ruck, he could be a bargain pick-up

Happy to get him. Plenty of potential upside:

Like+++++++

He's a lightning fast, 200cm utility, and an elite kick on both feet, former coach Aaron Greaves said.

He is a CHB not a ruckman. Quick, very good skills and ball user, smart player, agile and good with the ball on the deck.

Great pick.

Definitely more a CHB/CHF with the occasional pinch hit in the ruck.

This cant be happening.

Lever projects best as a CHB. He has really struggled when playing ruck.

Whilst the club thinks he may develop into a fwd/ruck, I'm not sold at all. More than happy for him to play in defence though and use his foot skills.

He did the Draft Combine as a ruckman, not a CHB.
