Another Phantom draft...
http://www.footytragic.com/blog/2011-ph ... tom-draft/
This one I like a lot! Has Saints taking:
25: Todd Elton
35: Sam Kerridge
37: Mitch Grigg
42: Nathan Blee (who I reckon we will actually get)
60: Lee Spurr
68: Andrew Boseley (MASSIVE slider, but he explains why)
76: Jason Blake
Good spread, although no ruckman. But we get one ready-made full-back, one developing full-back, developing full-forward, two inside mids with good skills (Grigg has close to the best skills in the draft) and a mature-aged midfielder. Plus the Blake...

Thats a pretty hopeful draft, seeing a lot of sliders in the 30s and 40s, McKenzie is hard to believe. Then again they all cant go in the 20s can they? Also, isnt Elton ruck/fwd like Kosi?thirty-seven!? wrote:Another Phantom draft...

60 - Kyal Horsley/Kyal Hartigan
68 - Ruck, young or recycled otherwise Rookie list (hope they take Sellar)
76 - Jason Blake
25 - Jordan Lockyer

42 - Josh Waldhuter/Sam Kerridge/Kyal Horsley
60 - Kyal Horsley/Kyal Hartigan

I think if we want Kyal Horsley, we may have to take him at 42.MCG-Unit wrote:Massive task trying to predict - I've left out players I reckon could be gone by Saints picks.

Collingwood, Freo & West Coast are into him aswell, with the Pies & Freo both having picks between our pick 42 & 60.

Not a bad effort...
Pretty good effort accept for Mitchell GRIGG far too slow and not what we need. In his place I would take MURDOCH, WOODWARD, MERRETT or NELSON.thirty-seven!? wrote:Another Phantom draft...

It has been mentioned that we are interested in Spurr but are also interested in Danny HUGHES who is training with us! I think we are more likely to go with HUGHES.
I also think we have to take a mature aged ruckman in one of the drafts and Daniel CURRIE ex-Sydney fits the bill. Ben McEvoy has proven to be pretty resiliant so a better option may be too rookie CURRIE or similiar.
If we rookie draft a ruckman then we could afford to look at both HUGHES and SPURR. Which is great as finally there is appreciation that these leagues players at their age have matured and are showing the commitment to make it and. IMO they are a much safer option than an untried 18 y/o kid.
I wonder if it is not beyond the realms of possibility that another player may be delisted and rookied before the Pre Season Draft.

Yes you might be right, I've edited my post to include Horsley as a possible at DP 42 as well...sax wrote:I think if we want Kyal Horsley, we may have to take him at 42.MCG-Unit wrote:Massive task trying to predict - I've left out players I reckon could be gone by Saints picks.

I'd actually really like us to get Elton. He could be anything!
I also totally agree if we want Horsley, we'll have to take him with 42.
Saying this, this is what I'd like to see.
25 - Todd Elton
35 - Sam Kerridge/Mitch Grigg
37- Tom Downie/Myles Bolger
42 - Kyal Horsley
60 - Nathan Blee/Michael Bussey
66 - Lee Spurr/James Magner
69 - Jason Blake

I'm at work at the moment but the best list I could come up with a few months back was a list of every player in the U18 championships- they had a guide on the AFL site somewhere which listed it all. If you like I can find it for you later today.tony74 wrote:As I said in another post does anyone know how to view the entire list of nominations

Anyone know much about Jay Lever? Article in the paper today saying : "He's a lightning fast, 200cm utility, and an elite kick on both feet, former coach Aaron Greaves said.
"He was the Falcons' best player with the ball in his hands," Greaves said.
"He makes fantastic decisions and has amazing agility for someone that size.
"He played key forward, key back, and played some of his best footy on the wing."
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/b ... 6202952558
He reckons CHB is his preferred posi, where he can beat them in the air with his height and reach, or on the ground with his agility and then use his elite kicking skills to hit-up someone up the ground.
Early in the year he was apparently kicking ass and looking like going early in the draft, but then he had a poor carnival, when played in the ruck, and they reckon he may now be a bargain pick-up later in the draft.
Sounds like ruck isn't his position, but that he could be very handy down back in few years.

Uneducated guess but are we talking Rhys Stanley mk2? Man I hope Rhys comes good he could be anythingSick Nal Danto wrote:One of the criticism that Elton has had is that he doesn't have enough intensity,
I think this is actually quite important at afl level.
Then again we now have hamill in a part time role

i don't know anything on this guy and hence am not having a go at him or the poster, but am just poking fun at the things the media say about draft prospects. as follows:AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Anyone know much about Jay Lever? Quote: "He was the Falcons' best player with the ball in his hands," Greaves said.
Meaning: He needs to be given the ball on a platter, can't get it himself.
Quote: "He makes fantastic decisions and has amazing agility for someone that size."
Meaning: Big guys are slow witted and turn like aircraft carriers, he is fantastic compared to most.
Quote: "He played key forward, key back, and played some of his best footy on the wing."
Meaning: He was no good as a key forward or key back.
