Well I know I'm right so I'll have a go.

In the early '90s we played Sydney at Moorabbin and there were four Australian rock icons on the field. Who were they?

Well Paul Kelly and Russel Morris are the obvious ones.

Stevie Wright is a third.

Can't think of a fourth - Bowie!

Well I reckon Stevie Wright, Paul Kelly and Steven Cummings were 3 of them but I'm hitting the sack so someone else can finish it off.

And I'll chuck in Russell Morris as the fourth.

But I'm still hitting the hay 8-)

Well it really should be The Doc, but since he's busy in the hay hitting his sack I'll go.

In our history there has been just four players that have averaged over 3 goals a game for us.

Yes Plugger is obviously one.
He is on top of the list with a massive 4.91 goals per game.

Name the other three.

Without looking it up I'll take a stab at Jacko, Mark Scott and Bill Mohr.

Wow!
Just got the order slightly wrong!

Name, Games, Goals, Ave
Lockett, Tony 183 898 4.91
Jackson, Mark 10 41 4.10
Mohr, Bill 195 735 3.77
Scott, Mark 34 110 3.24
Young, William 94 274 2.91

Interesting to note that three of the top four actually crossed paths and replaced each other.
Mark Scott arrived as StK in 1980 as part of the trade for Russell Greene.
His career came to and in 1983 when Jacko arrived to claim the full forward spot.
1983 was also the year that Plugger made his debut.
By the end of 1983 Plugger had in turn usurped Jacko and both Scott and Jacko were gone.
And so began the career of the great man.

But don't underestimate the great career of Bill Mohr.
735 goals in a lean period.
Slightly built.
Topped our goalkicking TWELVE times.
Dual B&F winner.
Captained the club.
One of the all time greats.

I added the great Bill Young in 5th spot because he was just below 3 goals a game in a great career.
Another undersized forward.

I suppose George Young didn't quite reach the 3 goals pre game average due to him playing further up the ground for a significant part of his career?

Despite only having 17 disposals and no goals, who scored the 3 Brownlow votes in our first official AFL game?

Lockett's 10 goals were only worth 2 votes and Jimmy Krakouer's 36 possessions were not worth anything.

Don't all answer at once.

But while you ponder the question above here is an unusual stat.

Between round 12 1965 and round 7 1967 Barry Breen only kicked four goals in 27 games. They were all against the same team in four different games. He actually played five games against that team in that period but didn't kick a goal in the other game.

But he may have kicked a point!

According to those spurious stats Barry Breen kicked 223 goals before he kicked a behind in 1974. Which just goes to show that stats are crap.

:) AFL Tables only has what is available, they didn't record who kicked behinds way back when, only goals. later players have kicks, handballs, goals, behinds, etc, but the older ones have only games and goals. so the most important point in all of aussie rules football is not attributed to anyone on that site :?

As you have gone that far back ie WW1 I'll put up a question. Which club in the WAFL did Verdun Howell want to be cleared to and which club in the WAFL did he end up playing for?
