With last week's departure of Robert Harvey to Collingwood, Laidley will fill one of the two remaining assistant coaching positions.

First time I recall seeing it as will, rather than may..... (may be just slack journalism though....)
Written by Caro so we don't know whether there is some inside info (nothing coming from the club lately) or it is just Caro SPECULATING as she often does. Time will tell !!
i don't mind caro, and she trusts her sources / instincts. at least she didn't use words like "sources close to st kilda imply that..." / "jungle drums are beating that..."

On the surface I think he is a good fit. We need a bad cop for watters good cop.

Out of interest was laidley useless at port or is their list bad beyond help?
No doubt Port is just plain crap in every aspect on and of the field. You can hardly blame him for any of the Port rubbish on laiey. As for the thing on Bali, I am sure we didnot here the full story
Him and the same son also punched on in moama on another school holiday. So he same strange hobbies.
Anyway - I don't give a toss what he he likes to do on his family holidays.
Can he coach ?

He will fit in nicely in the Frankston environment but maybe not at the club house.

Are you aware that he wasn't even living there? He was coaching them via Skype, on the internet, during the week. Not even close to ideal, so that was never likely to last long.

from those words used by Caro and the general process that is taking place- ( he hasn't been anounced even though others have- so not first choices for the positions already being)

and that Scott/ Chris and Simon have both said that the Director of Academy position is being advertised

ASSUMPtion- taking into account some on here's reservations- he is not being considered for that position but mainly as a sounding board senior assistant...( as I read the insinuations)

or he will need to follow the process and prove he is worthy of it - just a second option...... to thinking

Will his family be allowed in to the rooms,
or attend club functions?

How that was allowed to happen is beyond me. You would also think Laidley would have a problem with it too.

Simple St Pav, Port couldn't afford to have him full time.

actually laidley wanted to stay home with his family, but port wanted him to stay on, and he was willing to do it on a part time basis (part time being the time he spent in ADL each week... Port allowed this as they wanted to keep him on, heard him discussing the scenario on radio during the year..

Correct Bono. I can verify personally that he was travellling to Adelaide during the week because I saw him a few times in the Lounge in Adelaide Airport.

Pity we missed on McCartney coming back to town- may have been good as Academy Director.

I want someone who values sportsmanship
