What is Cloke's best return against Zac - 3 goals?samoht wrote:Stanley would do no worse vs Cloke , for instance, who as we know just marks everything vs Zac one on one.
Dare say Stanley would end up with a lot more than that kicked on him…
Cloke just took the most contested marks on record, it wasn't just Dawson getting flung aside…

If... when Zac leave it looks pretty scarry back there we have Blake, Fisher, that could fill the role, or we could fill the role or should we look at grooming Tom Simkins, or promote the highly rated Jackson Ferguson and throw him in the deep end.
Th other way we could look at it would be to think out side the box and look at moving a forward down back maybe Daniel Archer or an attacking defender such as Sam Gilbert.
How sad is it now that we couldnt keep young Steven Gaertner on our list he would of been a perfect replacement for Dawson.

Dont like losing players for zip...
Dont like losing players for zip... The list management team have failed the club in this regard - paying too much for our so called stars and not having these players locked away on contracts.
Having said that I think we cover Zac with Archer or Simpkin - if Zac leaves it will make selecting a key backman at the draft a priority.
Zac needs to be reminded if it wasn't for the Saints he wouldn't be playing AFL.

Re: Dont like losing players for zip...
I don't either, but really what is the point in trading a regular player for a +50/60 pick, Freo would have offered us nothing, maybe their 4th rounder #58 if we were lucky. We have 4 picks before this and one just after.WinnersOnly wrote:Dont like losing players for zip...
I'd say Pelchen was hoping we could hold onto Dawson on a lower wage, can't blame Zac for chasing the money though, 350K would be double what we could offer him.
Shame we hadn't sorted this out earlier though, we might have been able to throw more money and opportunity at Walsh.
I'd be trying Gilbert out in the FB role first up.

clearly freo weren't playing ball... figured he'd walk and they could get him in the pre-season draft - bet they didn't offer a draft pick earlier then something we won't use anyway
RL is quite the cut throat

Stanley may not be much chop one on one and body vs body too - but he certainly won't do worse than Zac.matrix wrote:stanley

see ya zac
saints obviously means jack shite and money talks
300 grand
pffft
you should be lucky to get 200 bud
Kick the ball in the air 10 times to Zac vs Cloke and Cloke would mark all 10.
Cloke may have kicked 3 goals vs Zac thanks to Zac's team mates covering for him or Cloke playing outside the F50 for structural reasons with Dawes at FF... but Cloke takes 13 or 14 marks on him.

I wish Zac Dawson the best of luck (as I feel he's going to need it!) we picked him up for nothing so we don't really need to complain too much. As far as "who replaces him?" goes, well rather than waste energy and time here on that issue, I'm happy to give the coach and his staff enough credit to have some idea of how the team will shape come 2012 I must admit that Dawson never filled me with confidence, but I wish him well all the same.
St Kilda forever ( God help me)

Yes most likely. Now that Lyin has gone it may mean no more or perhaps one recycled player, like most clubs.noob wrote:what happens with draft selections now? do we draft 7 kids now?
I wish Zac well and hope he ends up anywhere but Freo!
